During my writing retreat this week I worked on a manuscript with a minor revision. Still a bit of work, because I had to rerun analyses, but was able to submit it by the end of the retreat. The reward: acceptance within 24h 🎉 So satisfying!

its amazing how chatgpt knows everything about subjects I know nothing about, but is wrong like 40% of the time in things im an expert on. not going to think about this any further

Very important research, covered @thementalelf.bsky.social. Original study: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam... 6% individuals with a lifetime suicide attempt did not meet criteria for a lifetime psychiatric diagnosis. 20% did not meet criteria before 1st suicide attempt.

Lifetime Suicide Attempts in Otherwise Psychiatrically Healthy Individuals

This cross-sectional study estimates the proportion of US adults with lifetime suicide attempts whose first attempt occurred without or preceded the diagnosis of a psychiatric disorder.

Not all people who make a suicide attempt have a psychiatric diagnosis www.nationalelfservice.net/mental-healt... Focusing suicide prevention efforts only on those who have previously experienced a psychiatric disorder may miss around 1 in 5 people who go on to attempt suicide.

I just talked to one of our bachelor students who is very motivated to become a psychotherapist for the abandoned children in China, who were left behind in rural areas while their parents worked in cities. I would love to provide her with resources. Anyone familiar with work in this area?

Does anyone else spend half of Christmas Day in jogging pants and a t-shirt in the kitchen, to only change into the glitter outfit of the day half an hour before leaving

This feels like an accurate representation of keeping a work-life balance in academia (in reality this was an amazing Christmas circus show by Kerstcircus Den Haag that we went to with the family)

Let there be cake she said… I promised my department that I would bake a cake for them if I would reach 10 accepted publications in one year, and low and behold, I reached that last week! Happy holidays everyone! 🎄🥂

Methods folks, how does a person publish a white paper? Two colleagues and I have developed a shiny app for a priori power analyses for log linear growth models (multilevel) in which we explain how its done, both theoretically and practically. Now that it is done we are not sure how we get it “out”
