Sunday was spent setting up tmux (properly) and hooking up Pi with my local Ollama serving a Mistral AI model. I’m most happy that my tmux looks good now and the it has vim motion key bindings now! 😅

Watched Her (2013) and it is interesting how different AI was perceived and portrayed back then.

I always thought that age would be a major issue when training for running races. Well, turns out that climate change is the ultimate problem. There are so many heatwaves and wild fires now, which make training a health risk. I cannot imagine how much this is going to affect the next generations.

Binge watched the entire Millennium mini-series. The Swedish one. It’s fantastic and I love the attention to detail in every scene. Also, the film grain in certain shots was charming. Not sure if that was intentional or just a poor lighting coincidence. 😅

Finished Harrow the Ninth. Really long ramp-up, but the story turns into fire towards the end. Absolutely a great read!

Children of Morta looks amazing and the opening was great, but I had to refund it due to micro stutters. Changing resolution and flipping v-sync didn’t help. Unfortunate, because I got 100+ FPS, but the micro stutters were extremely jarring.

After a week in Paris I’m mostly offended that my plants seem to be doing so much better with me gone. 🌱

Git 3.0 is apparently scheduled for later this year and I just learned that a bunch of tooling doesn’t support SHA-256 yet. Had to switch from gitui to lazygit. Luckily, that also just works with LazyVim out of the box. 😮‍💨

Just finished Gideon the Ninth and I’m already onto Harrow the Ninth. It’s such a fresh story and dramatically really well paced.

Saw a lot of recommendations for Dead Cells. It was an instant buy once I read that Motion Twin is a French indie studio.

There’s the idea of the “dead internet” where most traffic is just bots. That aside, it’s also a problem that most websites are just advertisements now with zero or trivial content.

It’s pretty fantastic how running an AI locally lets you tailor it to your needs — while also being a privacy vault.

Scouted for smaller LLM models and came across translation models from the University of Helsinki. It was interesting to find out that they have a disclaimer that they are not accurate enough for real world applications.

That’s it! Went back to RSS with newsboat and configured vim key bindings. Installed lynx in case I do need to open a link. Keeping visual noise and clutter in check.

Love seeing young people messing around with Linux. The content creator Bread on Penguins does really good short form videos on rather low level stuff.

Started watching MIT’s series on Deep Learning. Someone joked at the end of the first lecture about how many million views that will get. Second lecture has 5k views. I love it though. Really good lectures!
