It is 2 years since the unspeakable act of evil was perpetrated in Southport. The families and friends of Bebe, Elsie and Alice have shown such bravery and dignity since that horrific day. They are very much in my thoughts today, along with those 3 beautiful innocent girls❤️❤️❤️

Heartbreaking news. Elise was a truly inspirational campaigner. It was an honour to spend time with her during the passage of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. She knew changing the law would be too late for her but she never gave up. All she wanted was choice❤️

We are devastated by the death of Elise Burns, a courageous, formidable and much-loved campaigner for assisted dying, who died in hospice with her mum and sister by her side on Wednesday 22 July.

Portrait of Elise Burns.

Today marks a pivotal new chapter for our country. A new Prime Minister & many changes at the top of Government. Politics is a tough business, but I feel hopeful about what is to come. It has been a pleasure to work with Andy over the last decade & he has my full support.

Today, the Hillsborough Law passed the HoC. This Bill is for the 97 & their families, but it is also for every one of us. It is for the victims of Hillsborough, the Post Office Horizon scandal, Infected Blood scandal, Grenfell, Manchester Arena & others who deserve truth, accountability and justice.

Today marks 21yrs since the 7/7 bombings, when 52 people were killed & many more injured. I am thinking of them & everyone affected by this horrific terrorist attack. Thank you to our emergency services & the people of London for their courage & compassion on that dreadful day.

98 names. Not forgotten – finally found. On the 82nd anniversary of D-Day – the Allied landings that helped secure Europe’s freedom – these names are added to the British Normandy Memorial. Every man is remembered. Each one is a hero. We shall never forget. #DDay

At the centre of the murder of Henry Nowak is a family who will feel immeasurable pain for the rest of their lives. Their response to their devastating loss has been dignified and courageous. They deserve answers and are very much in my thoughts, as is Henry.

Jenny wants choice. She has terminal cancer that has spread to her bones. She knows what pain could lie ahead. The assisted dying bill gives dying people hope. Hope that they won’t have to suffer. Hope that they can say goodbye to their loved ones on their own terms. MPs must bring this bill back.
