New Prime Ministers. Just like buses. There'll be another one along shortly.

James Timpson, prisons' minister, resigns just as Madchester arrives. Not a ringing endorsement. Credit to be given for what Timpson tried to do after 14 years of hopeless mismanagement under the Tories, who were more focused on profit than rehabilitation.

And for some of us the caravan moves on. Next stop Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games starting on Thursday. Really looking forward to my first shift as a volunteer tomorrow.
