I thought this group might be interested in some of the politics behind the scenes faced by wildland firefighters. The texts are from an individual working on the Tartar Fire outside of Weiser, ID. This is nothing new and causes some serious friction when public lands meet private lands. #IdahoFire

Huckleberry blues… I’m not sure how other areas are faring, but in the hills surrounding New Meadows, ID finding huckleberries isn’t going well. I spent several hours in the woods (my usual spots) and found 4. Total 😢 #IdahoEscape
It’s Sunday morning and I feel giddy. Sharing some of nature’s treasures from a recent trip trip into the Lost River Range. #IdahoEscape
Found an awesome spot to hide out over the 4th of July. Returning to civilization is hard. #IdahoEscape
Found my first morel of ‘26 followed by a successful day in the woods. Adams County around 4800’. #Idahoescape

A few photos from our drive between Stanley and Ketchum today. Fall colors and fresh mountain snow. #IdahoEscape
Today “my” snag had another group of visitors stop by to enjoy its embrace… (yes nature’s clean up crew) #IdahoEscape
I’ve been taking photos of this old snag for a decade now. Imagine how many approaching storms it’s witnessed… #IdahoEscape

After dinner drive tonight rewarded me with a Castor canadensis sighting. Not pictured, because I was too slow…
So after I posted a few obviously real pictures of Gavin on another site I got banned…
Feeling awful lucky to live where I do. Nature wise, not politically. Had a bobcat drinking out of our bird bath last night and a mature bull decided I was getting too close on my afternoon walk. Bad photos, but nice memories 😎
