I think disillusioning people about AI could be helped along by simply using different words. Instead of saying ,"AI said" or "ChatGPT told me" or the like, use "generated." An LLM 'generated' this, Claude Code 'generated' that. Stop using language that suggests these networks think. they don't.
Disappointed in Hank Green for the use of AI. Glad the apology highlighted the dopamine problem. Welcome to a kind of addiction, I guess.
Applied to work as a software engineer for Wendy's corporate office. Partially because I need a job and am qualified, but if I'm being honest with myself the lure of being able to say "sir, this is a Wendy's" at work is palpable.
Learned that the company I was using for garbage pickup was overcharging me for the service by double the local rate. Evidence from the call to cancel made it clear this was intentional, to see how much they could get from me. No more. New place is local, flat rate, and cheap.
This just in, breaking news, a brand new thing for you to be upset about. Whatever it is is sure to infuriate anyone with half a brain. More at 10.
Learning a new programming language just doesn't scare me anymore. Not after ten years of development. Except Lisp. Lisp scares me. Too many parenthesis. And PHP, of course, too. Any language that unironically uses explode() and implode() should rightfully frighten anyone.

If Atlas held up the sky why the hell is an atlas a book of maps of the earth? Should be a book of constellations, shouldn't it?

I watched @jeremydooley.bsky.social and @katdooley.bsky.social play Baldur's Gate 3 and it's so refreshing watching people interact with the game without knowing every secret and nook and cranny. Can't wait to see more of it.
I finally uploaded a background image for my Bluesky account. It's a rectangle the color of the dark themed default background... only ever so slightly lighter RGB.
"You ever look back at your social media posts and realize you've been blathering like an idiot?" "Oh yeah like 15 years ago I made a really dumb status. I still cringe!" "Uh, yeah. /years/ ago. That's what I meant. Totally." 😰
That song that is stuck in your head right now? Yeah it's gonna be there a little longer not coz you read this. sorry not sorry ✨✨✨

Trying to make a game for the first time be like, "yeah this'll be fun I have so many ideas." Meanwhile 30 minutes later, typing into Google "Godot how to make screen pop up."

I wonder if an entomologist on BlueSky could tell me why, every time I find a strawberry seed beetle (Harpalus rufipes) in my home they're just the derpiest, dorkiest little things. I watched one crawl up a slope and slowly upend itself, helpless on its back. Like what are you even doing?

Just finished James Islington's The Will of the Many and what a wild ride that was. In three words, "Magic. Roman. Skullduggery." I need a break from that world before I go to the next book but I would recommend it. Great world building and magic.
I don't consider what I do when I see a spider, "running away." I like to think of it as cunning action disengaging.

Having read the Licanius trilogy by James Islington and now reading another book by the same author, The Will of the Many, I can't un-see how often two characters grin at each other. So help me god if Vis started tilting his head at things I'm going to embed this book into my wall.
