It's very interesting to see people well into their adulthood be purposely dense about world issues, even admitting it. You observe the issues that they DO care about and it's the most unimportant nonsense you could ever hear. 😬 Just filled with entitlement and self importance.

My problem with publishing is that I’m not a fan of comp titles. I hate to have to describe my book as AxB, This meets That, imagine this plus that! I understand it’s to help gain audience & show what inspired it but I would rather just have my story be represented by a blurb and not other stories.
Even in my brief gripe with trad pub (2021-23) I could barely get through to them that they were asking way too much from me. The timelines were just too unrealistic for a 300 page GN. Especially as a writer-illustrator like I have to write this twice practically, and all while getting bullied
Nilah "Nine Jobs" Magruder@nilahmagruder.com · 9mo agoI wish I'd thought sooner to explain to tradpub editors that illustrating a graphic novel is not like writing a prose novel or illustrating a picture book, a 250-page GN is actually like illustrating eight picture books.
