As I look from a distance, I see similar themes popping up. PLUR. Abuse. Witch hunts. Ego. The issues are typically caused by few individuals, but those that do have echo chambers that seemingly radiate through the scene. I hope we can all work together to rekindle that spark of DJing - fun!

structures for accountability need to be made in the vrc club scene. real ones, that protect victims. there are un-deniable patterns of abuse specific to this niche that are causing people real harm, both publicly and privately looking the other way when people raise concerns, makes you complicit

I was just talking to my wife about how having less than 5 people be super into my work and supportive of it (in a way I know about) feels like about the limit of what I would want to deal with. More than that and the gravity well of opinion would suck me right in and crush me.

that we can do better, and really embody and practice that rather than frivolously using the word. We could practice core community values, move away from cliques, group think, social heigherarchy that favors respectability, influencer culture, etc. (namely, white supremacy culture)

I used to invest a large amount of time and labor to the VRChat rave community. For the first time EVER, I felt it. I finally got that feeling, the one our ancestors didn't have to search for: Belonging. I found purpose in contributing to a healthy culture & for our most vulnerable to feel safe.
