While I mostly used my time in Iceland to work on larger pieces, I also made this little guy to test out a magenta underpainting in acrylic ink on wood panel before doing the final painting in gouache.

This was the first large pencil drawing I did during my residency in Iceland. I had so much fun with this and hope to keep doing larger works in the future! This was made using ten sheets of backer board taped together. The scavenged surface made me feel comfortable being loose and taking risks.
An unexpected outcome of my month long residency in Iceland was making larger drawings in pencil. This was my second drawing made using eight sheets backer board taped together. It was inspired by my love of how rich and green the moss gets around streams and sources of water.
Exploring color pencil- only using cyan, magenta, and yellow. This was a quick test for a book I'm writing currently. #kidlit #kidlitart
