Just finished Bret Easton Ellis's 'The Shards'. Fucking wonderful. Best novel I've read in a long time. An absolute return to form.

Music to melt the stars. Alt-electronica via soundtracks for imaginary movies. Loves obscure, fiendish movies & books. My life is a lame and absurd adventure. https://linktr.ee/klaktononindustries Email: klaktonon@live.co.uk

Highly recommended.
A bone-freezing triumph in the power of suggestion splendidly adapted from the Shirley Jackson novel. Pure paranormal perfection from Robert Wise. 1963. #horrorcommunity #horrorfamily #film #horrormovie #horrorfilm #horrorfan #classichorror #horroraddict #filmsky #horrorsky #mutantfam #horrorfam
Back when I had Twitter I used to offer free headshots for low-income authors, not sure I have much reach here but the offer is still there. London or Birmingham (although I’m in Glasgow and Edinburgh at the end of Aug and can fit in a session. Will have lights so can be indoors).
Trying to start a discord group for women and non-binary writers of speculative (or just kind of strange in all genres) fiction. So we can encourage each other, etc. On the ground floor right now. If you want in, let me know, and I'll send you the link!
How does a veritable smorgasbord of intriguing alt-electronica, skewed pop & cinematic shenanigans sound? Fancy streaming, watching (increasingly psychedelic vids) or even purchasing some of this auditory goodness? Then follow this link: linktr.ee/klaktononind... #musicprodsky #edm #electronica

I love this. An absolute banger. Maybe the greatest 80s supernatural slasher.
An executed 17th Century witch returns for gruesome revenge in a terrifying trip back to the 80s. Offbeat and splendidly scary with creepy gore galore. 1982 #horrorcommunity #horrorfamily #film #horrormovie #horrorfilm #horrorfan #classichorror #horroraddict #filmsky #horrorsky #mutantfam #horrorfam

The album is all I hoped for. Recommended.
I'm v excited for #Kelela `s new album, #NewAvatar which drops tomorrow. All the tracks released so far are cracking - kind of shoegazey, guitary, dreamy R&B electronica-ish stuff. Oh and her vox (swoons). Can't wait. This is the splendid lead single, #Idea1: www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2Ip...
I have been blown away by #JuliaArmfield. Both 'Our Wives Under the Sea' & 'Private Rites' demonstrate an acute understanding of how we interact & the intricacy of human relationships. The prose is so graceful & clean yet a real empathy shines thru. Both books are devastating. Recommended.

In a more logical world, the government would be piling money into the grassroots of a £150 billion industry with massive global reach which is growing at over twice the rate of the rest the economy as a whole.
Performing and creative arts university courses will no longer receive funding from a government teaching grant as part of “difficult decisions” about spending priorities, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has said.
Mr Langan is really very good. The short story Bor Urus is particularly wonderful & links to his gorgeous, melancholy novel of loss and other places, The Fisherman.
Happy birthday to that handsome man on the right, horror hero @johnlangan.bsky.social! It's a great day to read one of John's books... I highly recommend his latest collection, LOST IN THE DARK AND OTHER EXCURSIONS - wickedly ingenious and scary! All hail the Gentleman Frightener!

So weird to read a review where everything the reviewer (?snootily?) decries, makes me want to watch the flick again. I mean, SOV heavy metal horror vanity project? Count me in!
Heavy metal horror films are mostly awful but Heavy Metal Massacre (1989), a vanity project from a former wrestler with dreadful music and far too many cheap video effects, really plumbs the depths. eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2026/06/26/h...
I know a book's getting under my skin when I feel it's cadence/style influencing my internal dialogue, which is definitely happening with @jordanharper.bsky.social 's #AViolentMasterpiece. I love his stuff - world-weary, wry, brutal, insightful but with a big fucking heart. Another absolute banger.
Bluesky folk of Virginia, Ohio, Norfolk VA or even Washington - is there anyone out there able to help me track down and scan a lost novel I'd like to publish with the British Library? We don't have a copy, it's THAT rare!!
