CBC reports an expedition almost 400 metres below the surface of the Labrador Sea shows the first images of Quest, the sunken wreck of the ship that carried famed Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton on his final voyage in 1922. Ice crushed its hull, sinking it off the coast of Labrador in 1962.
Congratulations to our own @Vincent Delmas who along with his colleagues, began working on this project in the St. Lawrence River in 2022. Archaeologists from IRHMAS & Indigenous Knowledge Holders have identified a 1,200-yr old anthropogenic stone fish trap! This calls for a cross-country road trip!

As Pride Month ends & Canada Day arrives, we reflect on the importance of allyship & the values we must vigilantly defend as Canadians – INCLUSION. EQUALITY. DIVERSITY. TOLERANCE. UNDERSTANDING. COMPASSION. KINDNESS. Everyone in Canada should truly be free to be who they are. Love Is Love. 🏳️🌈♥️🧡💛💚💙💜

National Indigenous Peoples’ Day is June 21st & here’s another Indigenous storytelling reco from our team. If you like dystopian or post-apocalyptic fiction, or a good thriller, then “Moon of the Crusted Snow” & “Moon of the Turning Leaves” by author Waubgeshig Rice are for you! Great page turners!
Today’s Indigenous story reco: Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner is an Inuit legend on film. An evil spirit causes strife in the community & one warrior battles its menace. A Greek tragedy w/universal themes, stunning cinematography, sharing life as the seasons change & told w/humour in Inuktitut. Wow. 🙌🎥
Leading up to National Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re sharing Indigenous storytelling recos from our team! INDIGENOUS VOICES OF VANCOUVER ISLAND is a podcast series highlighting the talents of Indigenous entrepreneurs & how they are preserving their traditions while succeeding in modern business.
