KM3NeT neutrino telescope
@km3net.bsky.social
KM3NeT is a neutrino telescope with two detectors - ARCA and ORCA - at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. It is also an international consortium of research institutes and university groups collaborating to operate the two detectors - www.km3net.org
Last week, our Collaboration gathered in Bratislava, Slovakia, for a productive and engaging collaboration meeting. A big thank you to the local team for organising such a successful event. We look forward to meeting again in Siracusa, Italy, this October! More: www.km3net.org/the-km3net-c...
🏆 Congratulations to KM3NeT's colleagues Francesco Benfenati Gualandi (University of Bologna / INFN) and Alfonso Lazo Pedrajas (IFIC, Valencia), each awarded a 2025 Global Neutrino Network (GNN) Dissertation Prize! 🎉 Read more on our website here: www.km3net.org/gnn-thesis-p... #KM3NeT #GNN
KM3NeT at Blois 2026 At this year’s conference, KM3NeT researchers shared latest updates on the detector status and recent scientific results. That was a valuable opportunity to engage with the international scientific community. Congratulations to the speakers! #km3net #blois2026 #neutrinos

Welcome, ORCA38! 🎉 After 4 days of flawless operations at sea, the ORCA detector just got a major upgrade: 5 new detection units installed in the deep sea, bringing the total to 38. A huge thank you to everyone involved, offshore crews and onshore teams, for making this great step forward possible!
Today on #worldcreativityandinnovationday2026 we celebrate our #innovative optical module, our #creative anchoring method in the deep Mediterranean Sea and the #beauty of neutrino detection with KM3NeT. 🎶Enjoy this piano recital by KM3NeT scientists. #km3net #neutrino
Happy World Quantum Day! Today, we dive into the fascinating world of neutrinos. At the ORCA detector of KM3NeT, deep beneath the Mediterranean Sea, we investigate the quantum phenomenon of neutrino oscillations, where neutrinos change flavor as they travel. #KM3NeT #neutrinos #WorldQuantumDay

The ultra-high-energy neutrino may have begun its journey in blazars
Three years ago, in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the passage of an “ultra-energetic” cosmic neutrino was observed — the most energetic ever detected. The event drew internati...

In a new #KM3NeT paper we have investigated whether our record neutrino event #KM3-230213A could come from a blazar. Read our conclusion in the summary at www.km3net.org/blazars-orig...
Blazars origin of KM3-230213A? - KM3NeT
In a new paper we test the hypothesis that the diffuse flux of blazars can explain the single KM3-230213A neutrino event.

VEGA's warmest and proudest congratulations to Ph.D. Juan Palacios González for his excellent doctoral thesis on multi-messenger searches for cosmic neutrino sources and time calibration with @km3net.bsky.social !
At the last edition of 100xCiencia, VEGA gave it their all to bring our ANTARES and @km3net.bsky.social detectors to the general public. We are looking forward to the next opportunity; the effort was worth it!
