It's called, simply, "Portal": wingssilverwork.com/portal-penda.... Sterling silver; spectrolite, a rare and particularly brilliant variant of Labradorite found in only one place on Earth. This one has rainbow banding, and its own indigo internal portal:

All right, tonight's inventory selection. Aside from the photos, today's feature is an all new cuff set with a firebow of a Labradorite specimen [shown below]. We have a pendant that matches it beautifully.

At the top, an extraordinary oval of Labradorite, gold/gray/green refracting blues and the rest of the rainbow is edged in twisted silver.

It's an old Deco-infused symbol reminiscent of a peacock feather, a radiant arc seemingly emergent from clouds. The inner band is traced with flowing-water motifs via Wings's own hand-made stamp.

The band is solid sterling silver of a decently heavy gauge, cut classically narrow and stamped freehand, end to end, in a repeating pattern. Tiny hoops are stamped the length of each narrow edge:

It's a phenomenon that we see here more frequently in recent years, even as rain and rainbows appear increasingly seldom. And the firebow lends its name to today's all-new featured work, a cuff completed by Wings only days ago, and featured here for the first time.

But here, there is no real arc, not visible to the human eye. In that, it's less like a rainbow than the firebow of the title: a full spectrum of color stacked in bands in a cloud formation. Scientists call it a circumhorizontal arc, but the arc is not visible to mortal sight.

The first photo seems to capture the orange, gold, and green bands of the rainbow; the second moves into blues. The third and final is awash in blue and indigo and violet, with magenta and circling back toward the rainbow's original band, red.

They date back 14 years ago exactly, to the very day: August 4th, 2012. Wings shot these three literal moments apart, all from the same spot, capturing the rapid shifts in the colors of the light.

This week's mix of imagery and wearable art consists of three photos linked by a single all-new silverwork piece shown from two perspectives. The photos are from the same series as yesterday's, although oriented in exactly opposite direction.
