My grandmother, in the 1980’s, was asked who the President was. She replied that it was FDR since he was the only President who mattered.
Heather Cox Richardson calls us to reinvent what we want democracy to be. FDR’s state of the Union in 1941 said it for me. Government to guard Four freedoms to all: a world based on four essential human freedoms: speech/expression, worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear, globally.
Saw it twice! Had all my favorite elements… wool on the hoof (I’m a knitter), murder mystery (big fan!), and Anglophile. A must see!
Sheep Detectives: so good! What a delight.
Like all little kids... you're not the boss of me! So don't wash your hands, go out and play in unhealthy conditions, eat unwashed fruits and veg, live dangerously! Just don't come home crying when it doesn't work out for you.
MAGA cultist Eric Metaxas was outraged by seeing an air quality alert triggered by the Canadian wildfires that suggested people limit outdoor activity: "How dare they say that. Who has the right to tell me or you or anyone anything? It's a free country. I can do whatever I want."
And helping those in need, not enriching people who have never had to do without.
I don’t mind paying taxes when they pay for roads and schools and healthcare and libraries and post offices and fire services. I don’t like paying taxes when they pay for Trump enrichment schemes or golden ballrooms or bombs to drop on girls’ schools.
I think about this often. Not just hate, but the circumstances of our birth. Some of us get opportunities not always available to all. So we should be kind and always be willing to help others.
I think about this quote every single day and I think about how much potential we, as humans and as a country, have lost because of hate. Our Constitution and institutions would be so much stronger right now if they were also built with Natives, Black people, and women as equals.
Isn’t this teddy bear cute? The way the yarn worked out, it looks like he has a cute little red outfit on! #handknit #knitting #handmade #teddybear #knitsky
You would never know that the weft yarn was a dark green! I love the earthy, neutral colors, woven in LITLG color Conifer and Yarn.Rehab color 038. And yes, it’s too hot to be posting this photos, but even in summer, I’m still working! Thank goodness for air conditioning! #weaving #handwoven
Great thread! We need good governance for the people!
The terror spreading across the country this a.m. because in some more progressive corners of the US progressives won elections is telling. The reason the reaction is so over-large is because progressives unlike centrists and the right, are the only group who pose a real threat to established power.
Another scarf finished! The yarn, hand-dyed by HauteKnit Yarn did all the work! The plaid just happened because of the yarns I was using (Pretty in Peach and Neon Animal Notebook). I do like working with these yarns and the result is an amazingly soft, colorful scarf! #handwoven #weaving #handmade
Michael de Adder deserves a Pulitzer Prize for his work....
I wove this scarf with merino wool and alpaca fluff yarn and it’s so incredibly soft and lightweight! So sad that the woman who died this yarn is closing shop and will no longer be hand-dying yarns. #weaving #handweaving #handmade
