Even if you've no idea about the events in this piece (from 2001), it's worthy of a read for is astounding compassion and remarkable ability to lay the blame where it lies. We can only dream of a world where journalists talk to the people they claim to inform like this.

The question I have is who is the player who verbally abused Bazunu? Whoever that player was needs to be named and shamed. They do not represent the Irish people, who overwhelmingly wanted the game scrapped, they should not be allowed to represent Ireland moving forward.

The world our leaders created when they watched as Israel did this - did they really think their refusal to act would not been seen as weakness elsewhere? Did it never occur to them that the very permission structure they created around Netanyahu would not be copied in other/future conflict zones?
