Hey 👋 It's been a while. Wanted to update you on our North-African sci-fi tactical roguelike deckbuilder. We're still cooking. In fact we made a big design pivot in 2025. Here's what we've been working on 🧵👇

Hope you had a nice winter holiday, fellow game devs :) We're back to work and working on closing art direction as well as adding cards to our tactical roguelike deckbuilder.

Simon, our talented artist, has been working on rendering and art pipeline. This piece is of a Banumarin. Inspired by the North African Amazigh, the Banumarin are a noble, agile faction who know the desert like the back of their hand.

WIP concept by our talented artist, Simon. The Reddin faction are loosely based on 16th-19th Century Ottoman pirates, and they're one of our favourites: Swashbuckling yet honourable, they bring a lot of chaos to our tactical roguelike deckbuilder.

Hello :) It's been a while. We've been cooking. For a while we thought the design of our tactical roguelike deckbuilder was "the bed we made" & we'd have to lay in it. But inspiration struck recently & we decided to solve some of our core design problems. Read on👇🧵(1/7)

We’ve been experimenting with control-style decks in our North African–inspired sci-fi roguelike deckbuilder. Our latest addition, Entangle, blocks enemy reinforcements for a turn, giving you the breathing room to regroup and set up your next big play! #TurnBasedThursday

We've been cooking up new cards for our North African–inspired sci-fi roguelike deckbuilder. Recently, we experimented with a control-style deck. One standout was Stun—a powerful ability that can come in clutch when needing to disable an enemy unit temporarily. #TurnBasedThursday

We’ve been cranking out cards for our North African–inspired sci-fi roguelike deckbuilder, and found that it was getting trickier to keep track of all the data. So using UIToolkit we whipped up a slick tabular view of every card—seriously impressed by how fast it came together!

The team took a beat to refactor code and tighten up our design workflows—now we’re back to building new content for our North African–inspired sci-fi tactical roguelike deckbuilder! While we’re cooking up more content, check out some in-progress art featuring the game’s factions.

More art from our North African–inspired sci-fi tactical roguelike deckbuilder, featuring the Kijo! 🛠️🚀 Tech-savvy tradespeople, the Kijo bring their knowledge and ingenuity to the rebellion. Exiled by the Gait, they fight not just to survive, but to build a better future.

Taking a break from our regular tasks, the team jammed together to design cards for our North African-inspired sci-fi tactical roguelike deckbuilder. The break proved super valuable—not just for sparking fresh ideas, but for revealing key tooling pain points we’re now addressing.

More art from our North African-inspired sci-fi tactical roguelike deckbuilder, featuring the Banumarin! 🐫 Seasoned nomads with unmatched endurance, the Banumarin lend their mobility to the rebellion. Exiled by the Gait, they fight to restore freedom and reclaim their homeland!

We have a simple HP + Block stat called “Guard” in our tactical roguelike deckbuilder. It helps make our one-screen game clean & elegant. But “Temporary Guard”, which a unit loses when it leaves the board, has been confusing. Our updated UI should fix that. #turnbasedthursday

More art from our North African-inspired sci-fi tactical roguelike deckbuilder, featuring the Reddin! Rough and tumble pirates with big, tanky units built for survivability, the Reddin lend their strength and resolve to the rebel cause! 🏴‍☠️💪

We’ve been tweaking and extending a run for our North African-inspired sci-fi tactical roguelike deckbuilder to amp up pacing and improve enemy variety. Plus, here are fresh sketches from our talented Simon, where he's playing with simple yet striking lighting to make them pop!

Our talented sound designer, Lars Dahl, has been experimenting with SFX for our North African-inspired sci-fi tactical roguelike deckbuilder! Check out these SFX variants as he explores how far he can push into the sci-fi sound space while keeping a balance with realistic foley.
