The older we get the more we understand our parents & their faults. When I was about 35 my dad called me out of the blue late at night & apologized for spanking me so much. I said I could forgive him but it wouldn't erase what he did. He saw that I DIDN'T HIT MY KIDS! He felt guilty. Good.

It was neglect, but not malign. They both went through WW2 in England and had trauma and PTSD from that, I think they did the best they could, they weren't evil. It took me a while to understand that...

I am so glad my kids don't feel about me the way I felt about my mother. I got married at 18 to get away from her, & after that, I healed. She died of cancer a few years later but I never forgave her. Too much damage & anger. You have to treat your kids the way you want to be treated!

I AGREE! My dad was okay but he'd spank me if my mother told him to. Old school abusive parents produce damaged sad children, it's a fact. My kids shower me with love & I am so glad I did it my way & broke the cycle of abuse! I wish every abused kid could do that for their kids, it's hard.

I helped my kids through many trials & tribulations as kids AND adults, just by having their backs at all times. Mine know that if they're in trouble, call mom, she'll fix it. I was one of those moms calling the school about bullying etc. My parents didn't know shit about my life & didn't care.

My kids both thanked me for being there when they were teens. Sometimes I think the only contact I had with them and their friends was tripping over enormous shoes in the foyer. But they appreciated me being in the house. It's mostly about presence.

PP is Harper's Mini Me. Harper can never hold office again because he's a corrupt criminal, but he coaches PP every step of the way. PP is not as smart as Harper & PP comes across as a sleazy, used car salesman, child molester so he can't win NORMAL people's votes. Harper FOOLED people, temporarily.

I KNOW this is BS because I had a rapid growing tumor on my corotid artery and needed surgery. It took 3 months to get a bed in the hospital. I was in ICU; I saw the rooms full of more machinery that could fit. It was terrifying, no visitors allowed.
