I work on old cool shows/cartoons in my spare time aiming to bring them into HD land. I also sometimes stream games n'stuff over on twitch! https://buymeacoffee.com/Kraz3yivan

Watching England in the world cup and they are so plodding, easy patterns of play and very obvious and slow build up. Its a team of 11 individuals and not a fluid team. Panama look much more threatening - also these commentators says treacherous route being 2nd in the group - should be bring it on!

I've gone and adjust this so it matches tone (all 4 decoded with 1886) Does anyone know someone from the #DS9 production - or can get these in front of someone who can say what the target/aim/look was they were going for? Its very hard trying to gauge what they saw in camera i.e. Nudge me please

I did some comparisons on the colour pipeline for DS9 (and to use with VOY) made mention of this work before.... thought you would like to see some shots from Season 2 #DS9 "Necessary Evil" Any nerds after the config I can provide those too - Matrix/Transfer/Primaries etc

Its way too hot at the moment here in the UK - its also humid and my house is so damn warm this evening I cannot sleep. Our houses are designed to retain every watt. Looking like torture till sat 🥵

My latest streamlining efforts - whats really interesting is what can be identified, take this #VOY 1x03 "Parallax" episode. Most of it has Shaky Cam with actors falling over everywhere, its made auto cut detection NO fun haha But its a learning exp - currently I am at about 96.8% real cut detection

Doing some automation on identifying cuts in Star Trek DS9/VOY episodes - doing LOTS of stats if I get all seasons done thats some very unique data.... data analyst is my day job 😎 Per-director: Does Winrich Kolbe's episodes have measurably more action density than David Livingston's? (1/4)

Here is an example of what would go into Topaz for upscale, so this is what Laserdisc (LD) gets you, with correction to Rec 709. Its still got issues (maybe you can spot them) But I am working to address those, but detail FAR exceed the S1 DVD This clip is from #VOY Season 1 Ep 3 "Parallax"

Been testing the multi AI model approach I've talked about before, like photoshop has layers I'm trying to do something similar for video via complex masking and comp in Davinci Resolve. #VOY episode S07E02, testing my geometry pipeline is OK in fusion here. Depth map is old lots to improve still 👍

My friend is sorting the TNG remastered Blu-rays out now, or rather the parts they could not find the 35mm for - and did an "old" version upscale from SD footage, again with the current workflow of LD to the rescue you get something like this... should be a nice drop in replacement! #Trek #TNG

I saw a comment recently - few ppl outside the Laserdisc community know how to handle TBC files, is there a concise and easy to follow guide that shows how to take these files (TBC, json etc.) and convert them into a digital video source MKV MP4 I could add that to my Youtube, any appetite for that?

Some nnet test shots from Star Trek #VOY Part 2 of the feature length opening episode 'Caretaker' - still ironing out some issues but this is the bleeding edge of obsolete tech! 😆 Still looks quite pretty - again direct from laserdisc, raw state

Key thing to remember when you see these early in the process shots from raw Laserdisc, they still need a LOT of work. Colour being one - just done a super quick green removal on one to give you an idea. And colour adjust does way more Check out the right shoulder of ....Roga Danar ;) #TNG Deepcut

Here is a good use for AI, neural network doing a nice job as a 3D decoder. Begone Dot crawl and crosshatching. Incredible Y-C separation. Remember this is raw laserdisc, the very starting point for working and upscale, we end up with better image quality and less issues common to this era #VOY

Preview of upcoming treat. A smart user from a Laserdisc preservation discord built a neural network to process the spectrum better than a standard NTSC3D decoder. It performs better across the board, anyway Capt DuckEgg here managed to build a windows version going (ish) with GPU accel (early days)

Clip 2 from my "Emissary" work for you to see, These scenes are mangled in the SD media we have, cleaned it up better but this and other prophet scenes need the full 35mm restoration work. Should look spectacular if we ever get to see it
