Google Scholar seems to still work and we use that. I also introduced my students this semester to udm14.org. It will give you a clean Google search.

I include survivor poetry in my grade 11 Genocide Studies class and those are some of the best discussions we have. We also read essays together and talk about them but there is just something about the poetry that really connects with them.
Sam Ulmschneider@samulmschneider.bsky.social · 2mo agohonestly over the last 15 years of teaching it increasingly appears to me that the ideal model for an advanced high school class is "let's read some interesting books together and talk about them, and write about them" with some supporting infrastructure in the form of contextualizing lectures etc.
I got a box of boxes (12 maybe) from Amazon a couple of years ago. I used them as my present toppers when my Christmas book was Bill Bryson’s *A Short History of Nearly Everything *. If you do Amazon.

Okay. So tomorrow’s new lesson plan for my Genocide Studies class is: 1) reviewing the UN declaration on genocide 2) reviewing the Protestant Reformation 3) and new learning about the Avignon papacy This is why lesson plans are written in pencil.
On Monday in my grade 11 Genocide Studies class we stood in the footprint of a gas chamber at Treblinka that I had marked on the floor and talked about 1942.

I may be misremembering but I always associate Bridewell with the incarceration of sex-workers and picking oakum.
David Luck@dluckarchivist.bsky.social · 5mo agoFrom 1557 the City united the Royal Hospitals of Bridewell and Bethlem. It's very hard not to see them as two halves of the same coin. Bethlem took the mad off the streets, Bridewell took the petty criminals and troublesome street children. 'Bridewell' became shorthand for early modern remand homes

The Maryland facility is scheduled for completion by May.
Yes! I gave up driving nearly a year ago but I still take note of the price at then pump as the bus goes by. I use it as a way to gauge the mood of the stock market.

I've flown in the one at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum a few times. When you build an aircraft that can long haul bricks, just putting a dozen people in it mean that it DOES NOT want to land!

I teach in Ontario and use it to teach about propaganda but we usually talk about what the State wan’t out of an education system.
@clserdaigle.bsky.social · 6mo agoWow! Didn’t know about that! I don’t teach world history anymore but I will keep this in my pocket as general purpose pedagogy. I imagine it opens up some good meta conversations about what the purpose of education is in the states too!
Questions I tried to answer from the young men in my grade 12 history class today: What do I think the chances are we’ll reinstate conscription? What are our chances if US troops mass at the border? If we do conscript, what is our capacity to arm and train them? Heart broken to hear their worries.
