I started my career with a lot of YT work and this thread is some solid advice for starting up. Don't repeat my mistakes and put yourself through hell because you think it's the only way to "make it". The "struggling artist" mindset is BS. Respect yourself. It took me too long to learn that.

So you're a young animator with mad skills about to do your first freelance commission. Do yourself a huge favour and get a contract that sets out the scope of work and agreed payment terms. It may seem big and scary but remember that this is to protect both parties involved. That means you.

Woke up to a bunch of new followers, thanks so much! I'm Kreid, a 2D animator from the days of old. I used to do a lot of web toons (Studio Yotta, Eddsworld, Weebls-stuff etc.) I've worked on Super Meat Boy and directed on Smiling Friends! One day, I hope to revive my personal work, Vampire Pixel!

Not animation related, but I'm wondering what people think of me sharing another one of my interests on here. That being astrophotography. I took this photo of the Orion Nebula in 2022 and have more to share of people are interested!

(2023) Dr Fetus' Mean Meat Machine - Some roughs of Dr Fetus from the game's opening sequence. It's fun to try getting the most out of his simple design. The floating arms give a good amount of freedom with his posing.

(2022) Woody Woodpecker - This shot needed a distorted pixel effect. I first drew the keys in Animate and then shrunk them down and tidied them up in good ol' MS Paint!

(2023) Dr Fetus' Mean Meat Machine. Dr Fetus is such a fun character to draw. I did the design for the gun in this sequence too. The same gun can be seen at the end of Super Meat Boy Forever
