I've been listening to #DoctorWho podcasts for knocking on 20 years now, and I have to say the @tobyhadoke.bsky.social Top and Bottom Tens episodes of Hamster with @docoho44.bsky.social are amongst the most honest, insightful and downright entertaining discussions of Classic Who I've ever heard.
Onto another Morse. Someone's been murdered in a church by a vagrant, Morse has rocked up to investigate and is clearly more interested in immediately deciding which of the two female witnesses he might bone later in the episode.
Well, at least we don't have to listen to that 'Englishmen in New York' song anymore.
Sure, Total Eclipse of the Heart and all, but I have a niche appreciation for Bonnie Tyler's 'Say Goodbye' from the soundtrack to 1994's Craig Charles/Howard Lew Lewis vehicle, Asterix Conquers America.
The more I look at it, the more I think that none of these Instagram girls at the World Cup are actually going to do whatever the top comment says.
Last year, I spent five hours of New Year's Eve writing a blog ranking the 50 new movies I'd watched in 2025. Halfway through 2026, I'm already knocking on 70. Might cancel Christmas now, and just block out all of December to sit at the laptop with a fuck off ranking spreadsheet.
My journey through the increasingly mixed bag that is the Fast 'Saga' has reached F9, which I'm basically just waiting to finish so that I can watch the 'Everything Wrong With..." video about it.
Onto Fast and Furious 8 now. Apparently these films no longer need to pretend to be about street racing. Or Paul Walker.
So the boy and I watched The Runaway Bride tonight. Because nowt says Christmas like a 37° heatwave.
No James Bond, no Doctor Who, now no Prime Minister. We used to be a country.
I love me a Jack Ryan movie, but the London geography in the new one on Prime is some absolute bullshit.
Now would be a really good time to rerelease the Series 9 steelbook.
Well, that's now twice in the last 16 hours that I've been irrationally angry at Russell T. Davies.
Last night the 6 year old boy child and I watched Army of Ghosts / Doomsday and both cried our eyes out. Only one of us stayed up to watch the other RTD season finale that was on yesterday evening.
In big contemporary film viewing news, I've just watched the 5th Fast and Furious film, and it's great cheesy fun. You should check it out.
Half-term means I can finally delve into the Season 21 boxset. Just had my cockles thoroughly warmed by watching @tobyhadoke.bsky.social spend 48 hours with @janetfielding.bsky.social, another beautiful Moon Balloon film from the ever-dependable @chrischapman81.bsky.social
Fuck yes. That's my shitty Monday instantly improved.
Having never watched any of the Fast and Furious films, I've now seen the first two in one weekend. I didn't mind the original, it was a bit of popcorn fun. The second was dogshit.
Me and the newly 6-year-old have been slowly working our way through NuWho from the start, after he fell in love with our early Saturday morning Ncuti/Ruby watch a couple of years back. Today we hit School Reunion, which I've not watched in years.
When I stand for election, I won't have many promises, but I'll make one thing mandatory: at 4pm on a grey Bank Holiday Monday afternoon, the whole country stops whatever they are doing to sit down with a cup of tea and watch Octopussy.
In the past 48 hours, I have watched JFK for the first time, listened to the @smershpod.com episode on it, then listened to the episode where @4hundredblows.bsky.social talks about the book he's written about the JFK assassination, then pre-ordered said book.
No, you're spending your Friday night watching a 2-part documentary where Yvette Fielding tours Television Centre in the company of the 1980s Doctor Who cast.
Whilst the world is going to shit, I've just devoured @watsoncomedian.bsky.social's 2020 novel Contacts, which is utterly beautiful. A story about life, love, loss, regret and hope, paced like a thriller and with all the emotional wallop I'd come to expect from Watson's books.
Obviously only the one choice of movie to watch this evening...
Bella Moy: Still not dead, but more importantly, still not chain-eating Maltesers. #Grace #StopGettingGraceWrong
Finally watched the last Amazon episodes of Neighbours. I think this was probably what Eliot was writing about when he said 'not with a bang but a whimper.'
Tonight's movie is Mission Impossible 2 on 4K. A movie that is much derided as the worst in the series, but which I unapologetically, inexplicably and wholeheartedly adore.
