Hi Bluesky, it’s been a month! I’ve been busy, in mourning, and started a new job, so I’m adjusting to a new routine. I took this well after sunset a few nights ago. There was still light in the sky, so I used a long exposure to pull as much of it into the photo as I could. It turned out so pretty!

Witchy mermaid living on an island in the middle of the Salish Sea.
Tonight’s moonrise behind the Seattle Space Needle. It was a perfectly clear night for some beautiful moon photography!
Last night’s Harvest Moon over Seattle. The clouds made it feel even more dramatic as it rose above the Space Needle and the Cascades. Also called the Corn Moon, this is the full moon closest to the autumn equinox.
An airplane crossing the crescent Moon Tuesday night. With no depth reference in a single frame, the plane can look like it is flying toward the Moon or away from it, even though it is simply passing in front of it. I love that tiny bit of visual ambiguity.
It seems like it was just a little while ago that the sun was setting right on top of the Brothers. Now it’s already almost to the treeline. Crazy how quickly the sun moves along the horizon.
Happy Sunday morning surprise for me, my photo was featured in Pacific Northwest Magazine this weekend. Yay! www.seattletimes.com/pacific-nw-m...

I swear the sky was trying to do everything at once tonight. A thunderhead, a rain shaft, a rainbow, and Seattle all lined up across Elliott Bay.
Monday’s moonrise over Seattle looked completely different from the night before. Smoke and haze softened the Moon into a warm golden glow as it rose above the Space Needle and city lights. 🌕✨
Tonight’s moonrise over Seattle was filtered through layers of smoke and haze, giving the moon that deep orange glow as it climbed behind the Space Needle. The clouds drifting across it made the whole scene feel especially dramatic Sunday night.
Eclipse progression collage 🌕🌑 The top photo was taken before totality, and the remaining four afterward. If you look closely, you can see the illuminated part of the Moon switch sides as it moves into and back out of Earth’s shadow.
Thursday night's lunar eclipse.
Crescent moon sinking into a hazy purple twilight over Puget Sound. 🌙
Golden hour over Puget Sound tonight. The sun dropped right into the mountains, throwing one last burst of light across the water. 🌅
An ethereal moonrise over Seattle tonight. Ribbons of wildfire and Blue Angels smoke painted the moon in deep red and amber, softening its usual glare until it looked almost otherworldly above the Space Needle.
The moon was so beautiful tonight.
The moon grew wings tonight.
The crescent moon through thin clouds tonight. They were moving steadily across the sky, more like a filter than an obstruction.
Sunbeams over the Sound tonight, with a ferry crossing through the last light.
A Washington State ferry crossing beneath the Olympics during Monday night’s smoky sunset.
I took a drive out to Point No Point for sunset tonight. It was so beautiful, and I feel incredibly lucky I was there to see it.

Lake Union fireworks photographed from Bainbridge Island, with Magnolia in the foreground. This one made me shiver a little when I saw it on the screen. The colors were unreal.
Mother Nature gave us fireworks over Elliott Bay last night. A little aurora magic between Bainbridge Island and Seattle before the clouds moved in.
Mother Nature gave us fireworks over Elliott Bay tonight. The clouds moved in pretty quickly, but I caught a little bit of the aurora between Bainbridge Island and Seattle before they took over.
The Space Needle in shadow while the sunset rainbow moved through the sky behind it. Seattle really knows how to make people stop and look.
June Strawberry Moon rising over the water, with that little cloud above it like it came dressed for the occasion.
One of the harder moons I’ve photographed. The haze never gave it a clean moment, but the first shot turned into this strange dark sun situation that feels like eye yoga. Sometimes the atmosphere gets in the way. Sometimes it becomes the photo.
Saturday night’s almost-full moon glowing in purple. 💜 She was already 97.2% illuminated, with the official full moon arriving on the 29th.
I thought for sure I wouldn’t see the moon tonight, but I was wrong, thankfully. She slipped through the clouds for just a few minutes.
