kids should know how to type, yes. but i am telling you as a teacher, this is BROADLY not the reason kids are using ChatGPT. They use it for the same reason adults do: because it's a shortcut and they don't see the value of the work they are being asked to do or the skill underlying it.

It's a shame that "defend your culture" always means "hate strangers different from you" and never "enact anti-pollution laws so that you can go fishing with your grandkids the way your grandpa taught you."

Question for #academicsky: What is the best way to donate/recycle old hard copy academic journals? I really, truly do not have space for them and cannot justify keeping more than a few sentimental issues. I'm in New England, for context, so I doubt any nearby universities need them.
