Erased my MacBook Pro and reinstalled macOS. My goal is to ship products faster than ever without installing any dev tooling locally: homebrew, mise, databases, dev servers, IDEs — none of that. It's going to be ChatGPT/Claude desktop apps + cloud environments. Is it possible?

A group of top-tier Rails developers I know and worked with (plus myself) were unfortunately laid off today. Any company would be fortunate to pick them up. If you or anyone you know is hiring, send me a DM 🙏
Imagine that scene from Pulp Fiction with “PARDON ME?” instead of “WHAT?”
How much collective human energy has been wasted redesigning custom checkboxes, radio buttons, selects, etc. that function WORSE than native browser defaults?
After ~20 years of writing code, I'm convinced that literally the ONLY metric that matters for code quality is: How easy is it to change? Copypasta is freedom, abstractions are cement shoes.
For the time being I've given up on agentic coding. Seems like no matter which model or tool I use, and no matter how much I finesse prompts — it just generates a frustrating mess more often than not. That said, I still constantly use AI as a coding sidekick for stuff like:
well it’s Sunday morning and these Hydraulic Press videos aren’t going to watch themselves
This frame from a @github.com Copilot tutorial video really captures the essence of the Copilot experience.
I'm at the point where AI chat bots send me into a blinding rage, anyone else?
Really curious to know: what AI coding tool are you *primarily* using for real work? - Copilot - Cursor - Windsurf - Cline - Roo Code - Aider I keep bouncing between tools because they're all changing and improving so rapidly 😅
Still trying to determine if AI-assisted coding is a net gain or a net loss 🤔
My 3yo daughter crashed our weekly dev meeting and now she won't stop saying "fucking paypal..."
Gmail's spam filtering has become awful. I get multiple obvious spam messages like this to my inbox every day now. So happy that I'm just about finished migrating to fastmail.com 🙏
I've spent today troubleshooting random VSCode errors, a suddenly broken local development environment, hung CI builds, timeouts in staging environment... ...seems like a good day to buy a laundromat and a bunch of vending machines 💡
I'm so glad Apple protects me from unsafe activities, such as plugging into the Studio Display I've been using for two years.
I want whatever combo of uppers + stimulants the trainers on Apple Fitness are using.
I truly think I'm the only person in the world who can't stand autocomplete / intellisense when writing code.
There are two hard problems in computer science: everything, and everything else.
Also on the topic of email — iCloud mail is fucking terrible 🤯 Right now - icloud.com/mail - Mail.app for macOS - Mail for iOS all say "Updated just now" but are showing me completely different things in my inbox. How are all of Apple's services SO janky?

All I want for Christmas is an official Gmail desktop app with a unified inbox. Like the iOS app. 🙏🎄🎅🏻📧 I've tried a pile of third-party email clients — yes, including THAT one — and they all have issues with syncing and reliability.
Ordered a pizza and told them to cut it into 9 slices, let’s see what happens.
Yeah, office setup photos are cool. But I want to see your coffee setup! ☕️🤓 Here's mine: Breville Barista Express grinder, espresso maker, and steamer. It's ... fine. But I'll likely replace it at some point. I have a double espresso in the morning (sometimes two) and usually one in the afternoon.
