There is no economic law saying billionaires need to become even richer every year. That's a political choice. So is deciding whether teachers, nurses, construction workers and service workers get a raise. We should stop pretending these choices are inevitable.

More than 80 House and Senate incumbents are already on track not to return to Congress. That's enormous turnover. Whatever happens in November, the next Congress is likely to look very different.

Election officials, courts, civic organizations and political leaders should be ready to defend the right to vote and the legitimacy of the results. Democracy doesn't defend itself.

Republicans have discovered the perfect campaign strategy: Call everything you don't like “radical.” Healthcare? Radical. Union power? Radical. Affordable housing? Radical. Higher taxes on billionaires? Radical.

The progressive wins keep piling up. Angie Nixon in Florida. Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota. Progressive candidates are demonstrating that Democratic voters aren't necessarily looking for a return to the politics of 2016. They're looking for something different.

Trump's approval on the economy is taking a beating while his administration keeps pushing tariffs. There is only so long you can tell people the economy is fantastic when they're the ones paying for it.

Florida's primaries are underway, with Republicans voting in the first major midterm contests after the state's redistricting. The 2026 midterms are officially no longer theoretical.

Trump says there are no Iran talks happening. Other officials say dialogue is happening. At this point the administration needs a press secretary just to explain what the other press secretary meant.

Trump wants the Supreme Court to let him keep building his $400 million White House ballroom after a court said Congress needed to approve it. Apparently “checks and balances” are now an interior design problem.

Trump wants 50% tariffs on another $20 billion of Canadian goods, with the deadline basically here. Nothing says “America First” like picking a trade fight with your biggest trading partner and hoping nobody notices the bill.

Disney is suing the FCC over what it says is political retaliation against ABC. If the government can threaten a network’s license because it doesn’t like the jokes, we have a much bigger problem than Jimmy Kimmel.

Trump’s approval is at 33%, Iran is dragging into another month, and gas prices are climbing. Maybe “the economy is booming” isn’t quite the message voters are getting at the pump.
