Honestly the hardest part of parenting young kids is how a wonderful, fun, productive day where everyone got attention they wanted can SUDDENLY DEVOLVE INTO THE HARDEST 45 MINUTES OF YOUR LIFE. I always remind myself that the entire trip wasn’t the same tone as trying to get into the car.

Friends - I only have a year and a half left to make it on Alexandria’s “40 Under 40”. What’s my accomplishment, you ask? “Man About Town,” of course. Or maybe “Local Dude”.
I just ordered a pack of Tech Deck skateboards for “my children”.
Also look I really loved THE ODYSSEY. But maybe you didn’t need to build your horse halfway IN the water on the beach????
Saw Spider-Man AND The Odyssey this week and honestly loved them both. Though I gotta say I wouldn’t mind seeing a movie with like… one different actor.
Yeah you should hire Kayla because I also help out some times while she’s chugging water.
If you are a local shop who needs flyers fast and you don’t want your customers to be mad about AI slop, you should hire me. I love Alexandria and want its businesses to thrive and want cool places to go visit. I also chug water while doing it but that’s more of a health goal thing.
Okay I decided on my hypothetical Skeets Lecture Topic™️: “How To Develop Good Taste In Picture Books”. You, too, can become pretentious in children’s literature!!
I said “Look at Rothko over here” as my daughter went to town on some pan pastels. Honestly it should have gotten me a much bigger laugh.
Del Ray gang—what’s the general consensus on PeaceOut Del Ray? Just went for the first time and not really motivated for a second visit, but maybe just bad luck?

There’s a lot of reasons to be frustrated with ACPS, but the fact that my child starts kindergarten on Monday and I’m just expected to put her on a bus she’s never ridden before because they just “didn’t have a step-up event this year” is honestly infuriating.
Like, once every two months I mutter under my breath, “thank God I’m not into Lego. That would be very bad for my family.”
Disclaimer: I have no idea what I’m talking about with this one but I’m going off a ~*vibe*~
Another hot-button issue!
Counterpoint: this is one of @kaylahornbrook.bsky.social‘s favorite parts of theme park visits. Woman loves logistics.
What an unpleasant customer experience. Can't imagine spending 10k per day for my family to experience this. www.wsj.com/lifestyle/tr...
No spoilers for The Odyssey, please, I didn’t finish Sophomore English.
About 40% of parenting toddlers is trying to keep them from squeezing a food pouch too hard when you hand it to them.
So here I am Doing eeeeeeeeverything I can Holding ooon to what I am Pretending I'm a superman
In other words they are doing their job
I tend to roll my eyes at Youth Slang™️ until I remember how many times I text “Sick!!!” to @kaylahornbrook.bsky.social
Okay genuine question: who in ALX Skeets would come to a Magic the Gathering night? We could do it a thousand different ways but I think we’d have enough for one fun night…
I’m going to become insufferable this November when this comes out because I am VERY excited. If we could get a sign up sheet going to console @kaylahornbrook.bsky.social while I’m otherwise indisposed of appreciate it.

2026 Book Thread! Just finished THE MINORITY REPORT by Philip K. Dick. TECHNICALLY a novella but I gotta take what I can get. Fun fact: read most of it on that tiny e-reader in the second photo.
It’s hard to describe how breathtakingly beautiful it is in Estes Park; and yet how strongly I’m excited to be back in Alexandria. I’ve lived in ALX for thirteen years, and I agree with other people in the feed—this trip has shown me how thoroughly ALEXANDRIAN I am.
Now if I could only convince my under-5 children that staring at nature was a super fun activity.
Of all the places to finally meet @mikesager.net in person, who could have predicted it would be in Casa Bonita in Lakewood, Colorado?
