Just another quick progress update: I'm already on to the next project, which is Hop-a-Jet flight 823! This is a much more normal sized project, so I expect that the article will be out before the end of August. I'm looking forward to sharing this crazy story with you!

Regarding the recent low flyover of a crowd of beachgoers at the Pensacola Air Show, which has received post-facto approval by high officials. When military aircraft conduct low level passes over civilian areas in defiance of regulations, they are not only ignoring military rules but civilian regs as well. And when military pilots thinks civilian flight regs do not apply them, then we have a big National Air System flight safety problem.

For my upcoming DCA midair article, I've written nearly 5,000 words about slot controls and arrival rates alone, and I'm not even done with that topic yet

I might have spent the entire day today looking at spreadsheets of DCA slots and traffic count data...

Outlining the structure of my Potomac Mid-Air article is challenging because it's not an event chain, it's an event web, and every part is so dependent on the other parts, it's like an informational ouroboros where no one component can be explained without explaining the others first.

I owe y'all an update on the Potomac midair article. I currently have over 50 pages (12 pt. font, single spaces) of notes, meaning a final article length at least 20% longer than that. I'll start drafting this week, though I'm still only half way through the 30 hours of NTSB hearing footage...

Not my wheelhouse but this is horrific and needs more attention than it's getting. The safety nets that protect workers in many industries across America have been under unprecedented pressure in recent years. It's not just aviation.
