watched Emma (2020) with the gf and since it has Rupert Graves I had to drag the ancient meme of "tell us about Rupert Graves, Benedict (he is good at football and has five children)" up from the depths of my subconscious

>thinking of seeing a new 19th c. classic adaptation >ask if it's Wuthering Heights (2026) or Emma (2020) >they don't understand >pull out diagram explaining how theyre all now either Wuthering Heights (2026) or Emma (2020) >they laugh. 'it's a good film maam' >watch it >its Wuthering Heights (2026)

was recommended to Cranford (2007) as an adaptation of Books and Things's favourite Victorian love story, which you'd hardly guess at first since it's really more a slice-of-life, but damn was I bawling at the end (when you get allie wildly gesticulating in protest you know you've done well)

Cranford (2007)

watched Persuasion (2007). truly a story of Anne Elliot being squeezed and wrung like a wet rag for 1.5 hours. great work all round tbh, despite the decision to rewrite the moment where (to be extremely general) Wentworth is prompted to write the final letter. still my favourite Austen
