Why are fewer young adults in Poland forming couples — and how is that linked to falling fertility? 🧵 Preliminary research by Alina Pavelea (LabFam UW) shows that even among equally educated men & women, deeply different views on gender roles create a major relationship barrier.

We're a research center at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Warsaw, studying impact of changes in labour market on families in Europe. https://labfam.uw.edu.pl/ https://labfer.uw.edu.pl/
Planet vs. Parenthood? When the future feels apocalyptic, family planning becomes a moral dilemma? We show that more climate change news + feeling you’re not doing enough = fewer first births #ClimateAnxiety #Fertility #UKHLS #Popdays2025 @amatysiak.bsky.social & @florenceups.bsky.social

Happy to share the results of our experiment on #PAA2025 with Anna Kurowska and @amatysiak.bsky.social . For childless females, reproductive rights outweigh even job and housing stability in shaping fertility intentions ❗️ @labfam.bsky.social #FertilityIntentions #ReproductiveRights

Proud to share our latest research paper - Job creation, job destruction, and fertility in Germany by @chenluo.bsky.social and Ewa Jarosz
Conversely, job destruction, particularly for male workers, is a negative predictor of regional TFR. More detailed analyses suggest that in particular for women, job characteristics might be an important factor in the employment-fertility nexus.
How does work autonomy shape fertility decisions in the UK? 🤔 📊 Using UKHLS (2009–2019) data, we find: No link for men. Highly educated women: + for second child, - for motherhood. Less educated women: Mixed results. Dive into the complexities of work, family, & social stratification.

I'm happy to share my new paper in JLMR (IAB)! Using admin data, I study women's employment trajectories after their first childbirth. I show that women in cognitive jobs are more likely to return to work, while those in routine jobs often face unemployment. Link: doi.org/10.1186/s126...
