Positive action and coming together when faced with challenges – it's things like this that make Southampton the best city in the world! 😍 Thanks to Daily Echo for covering this important issue and sharing the story of the incredible community group working to bring Inner Avenue together. 🙏🏾

Loved participating in a Q&A with fellow Southampton MPs last week, as part of Darren Paffey’s Summer School. 🎓 We covered loads, including how we got to where we are today, the biggest challenges faced as female MPs, and handling the heat on social media. Huge thanks for the rich conversation! 💪🏾

Great to visit Half the Story Biscuits in Nottingham last week to learn about their incredible work, creating life-changing opportunities for local people facing barriers to the jobs market. It’s a perfect example of empowering local people and revitalising neighbourhoods across the UK.

Congratulations Andy Burnham, our new Prime Minister. Hopeful speech, with focus on supporting young people, more council homes, ending rough sleeping and investing in success, not paying for failure. Look forward to helping deliver that better future and continuing to drive the change we started.

It’s not right that some are renting out their council homes for profit while families in need are left on waiting lists for years. As part of a new partnership with Airbnb, we’re cracking down on social housing fraud with 500 cases already uncovered within days.

📢 We're hiring! I’m looking for a Parliamentary Assistant to join me in Westminster on a 10‑month maternity cover contract. Deadline: Monday 27 July at 4pm To find out more and apply, visit the link 🔗 in the comments.

As part of my ministerial responsibilities I’ve been working hard to hold Capita to account on civil service pensions. Our public servants, often after a lifetime of service, deserve a secure retirement, and we will not let taxpayers foot the bill for corporate failure.

It was brilliant to meet local hospital bosses last week, and tour the area of Southampton General Hospital damaged by the recent fire. They are making the best of the situation by working to ensure the section requiring a rebuild will be redone to a high spec and properly modernised.

📢 JUST ANNOUNCED: New breakfast club coming to Wordsworth Primary and Nursery School I have loved visiting breakfast clubs like the one in St Mark's and I'm looking forward to the clubs being rolled out across all primary schools in our city!

Excited to have Taha and Maryam starting their internships with me this week. They're passionate about our city, politics and keen to make a difference. Great to be able to have them in Parliament with me, and even take them to Downing Street!

It was great to attend the Made in Millbrook event hosted by the University of Southampton at Testlands. Enjoyed speaking and listening to local people of all ages and backgrounds who are passionate about the place they live, sharing how together we can make the Millbrook estate the best it can be.

When the days are hot, especially during a World Cup, everyone loves a drink right? This week is alcohol awareness week, so a friendly reminder to drink responsibly. As a regular at our amazing Southampton pubs, I know they’ve got a range of alcohol free options that are great!

Great to host some of our incredible Labour activists and councillors to celebrate two years since being elected as our MP and thank them for all they do. Southampton Labour members are truly amazing; they are my political family and the very best of our movement. Onwards 🌹

So proud to be part of the government that is finally banning conversion therapy. 🌈 It's been a long road, first promised back in 2018 under Theresa May. Nobody should ever be subjected to practices that seek to change who they are, including LGBTQ+ people here in Southampton.

After 200 years, the Government has decriminalised rough sleeping. Such a positive step forward, long overdue, and one of many measures we are taking to help, including £3.6 billion nationally to tackle homelessness and £39 billion to build social and affordable homes. Lots done, lots to do.

It was great to host the first of many events for my Big Southampton Test Community Conversation - starting in Freemantle. This is what residents had to say... Comment down below if you wanted to add anything we should be taking action on in your area. There's no issue too big or small! 👇🏽

Summer is officially on! ☀️🎡 From today, we’re cutting VAT on everything from kids’ meals to family days out – making it easier to enjoy the summer without breaking the bank. Enjoy the sunshine!

Southern Water is letting down Southampton residents yet again. This time in St Denys, again, with the odour so bad this week that people are unable to open their windows - a huge problem during the heatwave. Read my letter to the Southern Water CEO. 👇🏾
