Concern has been raised following a recent Equalities roundtable hosted by Olivia Bailey MP. The inclusion of Mridul Wadhwa — given his role in the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre case — is not a neutral choice for many women, particularly those relying on single-sex services. 1/2

“The Supreme Court ruling was very clear about what sex means — biological sex.” Bridget Phillipson says employers should act now and don’t need to wait for the EHRC Code. Legal clarity should lead to real-world implementation. Article: www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Analysis highlighted by Women’s Rights Network shows many councils still have not aligned policies with the Supreme Court’s clarification that sex in the Equality Act means biological sex. As Bridget Phillipson said on Sky News, there’s no need to wait for the EHRC Code before applying the law.

A privilege to introduce Jennifer Melle, Sandie Peggie and Darlington nurses Annice Grundy & Karen Danson to Labour MPs David Smith, Preet Gill, Tonia Antoniazzi, Jonathan Hinder, Tracy Gilbert, Mary Glindon & Siobhain McDonagh. All agreed: the law is the law — including in the NHS.

FWS’s judicial review is underway in Edinburgh on trans prisoner policy. Aidan O’Neill KC’s point for For Women Scotland matters far beyond prisons: “Nobody has complained” is often used as an excuse — but silence is not consent.

We remember Lord David Triesman with gratitude. He was an early Labour voice willing to speak plainly about women’s rights and the importance of single-sex provision. This clip from 2020 is a reminder of his courage and clarity — and how much has changed since. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBdM...

We welcome Anas Sarwar’s commitment to ensure women’s prisons are genuinely single-sex & act quickly if Labour takes office in Scotland. This reflects Supreme Court’s clear law on sex & women’s safety. We urge UK Labour to match this clarity and act nationwide. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politic...

An Employment Tribunal has ruled that the Darlington nurses were unlawfully harassed and discriminated against after being required to share women’s changing rooms with a male colleague. This case underlines the need for clear guidance — and for trade unions to stand firmly with women members.

Strong, focused question from Jackie Baillie MSP today following the Sandie Peggie case, calling for a single, consistent approach across Scotland so women don’t have to complain individually just to have the law applied at work. Exactly the right point to press.

Staggering arrogance and stupidity from McDonnell. We all know what sex we are. There's no reason for men to break the law and use women's single-sex spaces. They can simply respect women's boundaries or can be told to leave. Women matter in society, law, culture, politics ... and elections!
