So my kid started college last week and tonight tested positive for COVID. This year's vaccines should be available soon, please get one!!
OK I ***knew*** it was BAD KARMA for people to be talking about how soft the rest of our reg season is, please STFU with that kind of talk #ITFDB
@chadmoriyama.bsky.social sooo the other interesting nugget from tonight's FB chat is speculation about "Why Not Tibbs?" Not starting his MLB clock seems obvious but there is also Qs about whether there is an underlying Clubhouse Issue. Traded 2x by Giants and BSox before really getting a chance? Hm
@chadmoriyama.bsky.social so the FB Dodgers group I'm in has started 4D Chessing today's roster moves as anticipating a lockout and where they want everyone if it happens. The CBA expires on 12/1, do you think any of that is factoring with AF and Doc right now? I don't think they're risking 2026.

Happy about Pickles and Bam Bam, happy for Hunter. What baffles me is not the DFA for Big Ben, but that a catcher who has been clutch with the Dodgers two late seasons in a row doesn't get scooped up by some other MLB team's active roster.
The Dodgers made a massive roster move: - Will Smith is back (he and Hunter Feduccia will play catcher) - Dalton Rushing is back (LHH off the bench) - Alex Freeland is back - Justin Wrobleski is back - Alek Thomas optioned (Tommy Edman likely to CF) - Ben Rortvedt DFA'd www.si.com/mlb/dodgers/...
Happy 58th birthday to Hideo Nomo. Nomo remains greatly underappreciated for opening the door for Japanese players to come to the MLB. He remains highly appreciated by Dodger fans - as well as Ichiro - who enjoyed Nomo-mania in 1995 when he won NL ROY honors and started the ASG.
Happy 40th birthday to Juan Nicasio. Nicasio played just one of his 10 big league seasons with the Dodgers when he appeared in 53 games - almost entirely in relief - for LA in 2015. In all, he played for 7 different MLB clubs, most recently with the Rangers in 2020.
Today in 1950, Gil Hodges becomes the 6th player in MLB history to hit 4 HRs in one game as the Dodgers beat the Braves 19-3. Hodges adds a single to go 5 for 6 on the day. He remains one of only two Dodgers to accomplish the feat with Shawn Green equalling the mark in 2002.
Today in 1959, Sandy Koufax strikes out 18 batters as the Dodgers defeat the Giants 5-2. Koufax ties Bob Feller’s MLB record and sets a new NL mark with his performance. The 18 Ks remain a franchise record with Koufax tying it in 1962 and Ramón Martínez matching it in 1990.
Happy 91st birthday to the late, great Frank Robinson. Robinson was one of the greatest and most respected players of all-time. He spent just 1972 with the Dodgers, hitting 19 of his 586 career HRs with LA. He later became the NL/AL’s 1st black manager with Cleveland in 1975.
Happy 72nd birthday to Jack Perconte. In the hobby world, Perconte is best known as the 3rd guy on the Scioscia/Valenzuela rookie. That said, he enjoyed a 7 year MLB career - including 22 games with the Dodgers - and wrote 3 books on coaching and developing youth in baseball.
Miguel Rojas saves the Dodgers yet again. A sac fly is a downgrade from the last time but representative of where we're at.
Today in 1988, Orel Hershiser gives up a 5th inning single to Dave Martinez that scores Tim Raines in the Dodgers’ 4-2 win over the Expos. It is the last run that Hershiser will give up in the regular season as he goes on to throw a record 59 consecutive scoreless innings.
Rojas hits the first pitch he sees off the bench for a game-tying single.

Evan Phillips, pitching for the third time in four days, strikes out the side on 10 pitches. His best outing since returning from IL in early July
Tarik Skubal strikes out 7 in 6 innings of one-run ball in his return to Detroit.
