You chose Port Mulgrave for our next stop - an excellent choice! This site unlocks so many different paths in our Ironstone Steps journey. At first glance, Port Mulgrave looks peaceful… But 150 years ago, this quiet coast was buzzing with industry.

Did you know… Back in the day, ironstone miners sometimes kept gunpowder at home – even under the bed! It wasn’t unusual to see damp barrels drying by the fire, or powder stashed in tins and bags. Not exactly your average Victorian cottage… talk about an explosive household!
