Robertson on the chatter: "Not everything on the internet is real. All I think that matters is the opinions of the people around me — obviously the organization, my agency, my friends. Everything else is nothing really."

Robertson: "The biggest thing was just getting it done this week, push it down and just keep re-evaluating and taking our time. I'm sure they're gonna do the same thing. I think we're both content with what is right now."

Robertson said he thinks the team is only going to get better this season than last year. Said he is excited to be part of it.

Robertson was asked if he thinks he will be a Dallas Star for a long time: "I'm just happy to start the season in Dallas right now. I was pretty much planning to. They had my rights. Now I can focus on this season and have a good summer."

Robertson on what happens next: "Obviously, we'll have time to revisit it later this year."

Robertson on the Stars: "Dallas is where I started. I've built a great career out here. ... Happy to be playing with them started in September, and we'll see where it goes."

Jason Robertson didn't want to speak on the proposed Seattle Kraken trade. "What happened doesn't matter anymore. Just want to focus on having a great summer this year."

Like Jim Nill, Jason Robertson said he was happy to avoid arbitration. That deadline helped get the deal done.

Jim Nill also said today that it never came down to an internal cap of comparing what Jason Robertson would make to other players. He said they understand the market changes.

Jim Nill on Jason Robertson: "We hope some day that he retires here."

Jim Nill said his understanding is that the other players on the team have been in conversation with Jason Robertson, encouraging him, that they are happy for him and that he doesn't expect it to be an issue in the locker room this year.

Nill said the deadline of arbitration was a big part of what helped get the deal done.

Stars GM Jim Nill said that it became clear that Jason Robertson wanted to be a Dallas Star. He said they discussed long and short-term options and decided the short-term deal was best for the team and Jason right now.

Jason Robertson will be eligible to sign an extension with the Stars on Jan. 1, 2027. He can sign a maximum seven-year deal starting on that date.
