Good morning, Bluesky. BFF’s son waited on Gunnar Henderson at local spot and my family had QUESTIONS. Me: What did he order? (I have many unearned opinions re: sports nutrition) Daughter: Why is his wife so hot?

Watching Some Kind of Wonderful with teen and I did not anticipate so much Eric Stoltz love. (From her.)
Shopping in DC today with friends, teen, dying to wear this hat.
As noted: I met Earle thru my ex, which is how I met about 85 percent of the cool people I met & was with them when they visited Hattie Carroll’s home. My ex and I divided households, but not all household goods, and I ended up w/ William Zantzinger’s arrest report, I should probably give it back.
Good morning, Bluesky. “You never write and I never call And I don’t miss you tonight, I’m just curious that’s all. Do you still have dreams, did they all come true?” —I Remember You— Steve Earle once spent an Orioles game telling me about his bonsai hobby. Top 5 night at Camden Yards, truly.

As someone who rises 5-ish to walk, I’m not going to make it through tonight’s game, could someone in the local Oriole-rati come sit by my bedside and whisper the play-by-play into my ear? (I can provide snacks.)

Good morning, Bluesky. Back on my bullshit. Thirty-plus years ago, I lived in Cuernavaca for 3 months and I listened to a Sony Walkman as I prowled the city. Today, a song from one of my old cassettes popped up randomly on my phone and it was like being teleported across time and space.
I am geographically polygamous, but if, gun to my head, I had to pick my favorite, favorite, favorite place in the world, it might be this kitchen nook. (Art by Jimmy Lee Sudduth and Gary Komarin, two of my all-time favorites.)
BRB, going to take the Cosmopolitan “Am I a High-Status Woman?” quiz written by Scot Galloway.
“I want that red dress bad.” But RTR needs to lower the price just a little bit more.
No visit to NOLA is complete without dinner with @scottynola.bsky.social and, yes, I know I shared this dress just 5 days ago, but: “I want that red dress bad. I want it to confirm your worst fears about me, to show you how little I care about you or anything except what I want.” -Kim Addonizio-
Good morning, Bluesky. “Which comes first generally— The words or the music?” “Generally, the contract.” -Merrily We Roll Along- Heard (read) the magic words (letters) from my editor yesterday: d&a. That stands for delivery and acceptance. Book is going into copyediting and I am getting PAID.
People have always been surprised that I love to visit New Orleans in the summer, but my walk home tonight (temp 83 degrees) was absolutely lovely. I’ve averaged 6 miles a day here walking and it’s required almost no effort.

My mother was always proud of a tiny sketch she had by the artist Theodore Robinson and I, an ignoramus, didn’t know why. I’ve finally repatriated it to NOLA. And it really just occurred to me that my parents “normalized” the idea of buying art. One could do worse by a kid, for sure.
Something I forgot to add last night: I especially loved my native-born Lyft driver who told me about the year he lived in Las Vegas and called home crying on Mardi Gras day because he had not understood that not every city celebrated Mardi Gras.
I don’t feel I can claim to be a New Orleanian, but I’m happy that I’ve reached a level where I can go out to dinner with one friend, run into two other people I know, and then have a lovely chat with some nice men in a park, one of whom asked: “Can I go home with you?” (I declined, politely.)
Good morning, Bluesky. I ultimately achieved Queen Bee in bed, but when I first saw those letters I thought I was having a stroke.
Always at the foot of the photograph That’s me there, snug as a thug In a mugshot pose, a foul mouthed rogue Owner of this corner and not much more 😢
Oh no!!!! Trashcan Sinatras just released one of my favorite albums of the year. This is devastating! :( www.nme.com/news/music/t...

Maybe I should just live in this powder room.
Things that hung from my earlobes when I was in my 20s, Part II. (Yes Raisa Gorbachev, Georgia O’Keefe, and Jesus were in the mix.)
Some things that hung from my earlobes when I was in my ‘20s, Part I. (This is the MILDER group and OF COURSE they’re housed in a box covered with photos of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.) The wilder ones are in New Orleans. Will post next time I’m there.
Totally forgot that my newsletter was going out today, but here it is, the first Tuesday of the month and I am being kinda bitchy. For me. (John Waters is pictured because one of his old essays was my inspo.) open.substack.com/pub/lauramli...

Good morning, Bluesky. “He disdained exercise and had the body to show for it.” Found this in an old journal and while it might sound bitchy, it was actually written about someone for whom I had great affection and about whom I will never say an unkind word. He was adorable.
Taking my parasol for a spin for the first time. I will probably feel a little silly, but will keep repeating my mantra: pallor.
Good morning, Bluesky. I was supposed to wake up in New Orleans today, but man plans, Southwest Airlines laughs. No regrets at rebooking for today as my original flight arrived seven hours late. Besides, a nice young man said: “You look beautiful today” while I was walking. Charm City, indeed.
Silver lining in not being on a plane when I should be on a plane: I had the nicest text exchange with daughter, re: The Florida Project, and then a little Anora discussion and I chose not to remind her of the time she met Mikey Madison and pointed at her and said: You’re Mikey Madison!
Should be walking through my door in New Orleans right about now; instead I will have to wait 15 hours or so. No complaints. But I am reminded of my most overwhelming travel delay.🧵
Departure now pushed to 9:49 p.m. I feel very grateful that I can take the 9:25 a.m. tomorrow at no additional cost. Feel terrible for the lovely woman I met in the bar who will have spent 7+ hours in BWI. Everyone thought we were sisters because of our . . . décolletage? She was quite lively!
Ask me anything, all my new friends in the bar have abandoned me.
OK, flight from Albany seems to be in the air, I guess I’ll leave for the airport in 30 minutes, curious to see if my bottle of creatine gummies gets flagged again.
