On the one hand, his human loves him so much that she bought him another soft throw blanket for him to take naps on. It even has some very cute birds on it. Unfortunately, these birds are INEDIBLE!!! This makes him question his human’s generosity (and, frankly, her intelligence).

A tuxedo cat sits like a loaf on a throw blanket with a multicolored bird motif. He is giving the photographer an accusatory stare.

French II is starting a food unit, so we’re starting with a quick review of common vocabulary. I should have timed my soliloquy this morning about the baguette. It might have been a bit much, but on the other hand, my students had follow-up questions 🤷‍♀️🥖

Thank you, @ellipsiszine.bsky.social, for showcasing historical flash! So happy this piece landed with you ❤️ Thanks, too, to my @smokelong.bsky.social March Micro Marathon group for your great feedback on the first draft!

He’s pretty sure this is the most wonderful time of the year: open windows, fascinating smells from the outdoors, and his human woman repeatedly saying “Yankees,” which means it’s almost time to get snacks and watch tiny men run around in circles on TV. #caturday

A tuxedo cat sits on a multicolored blanket beside an open window. Outside, the sun is shining and the sky is blue. The cat looks over his shoulder at the photographer. He seems pleased with himself.

I’ve also been a PTV volunteer for years. It takes a few minutes, can be done at any time of day, and gets voters’ attention. (How often do people receive handwritten mail these days?) I especially enjoy volunteering for special elections, where a small increase in turnout makes a difference.

If you want a relaxing way to volunteer for the midterms, I recommend Postcards to Voters which I joined in 2016. They have campaigns all year long for local candidates & midterms are peaking now. Choose any active campaigns you want (Ossoff, Talarico, Brown, etc.) & write from 4-50 cards at a time

Wore a Yankees jersey today, and a student walked into my classroom in a Red Sox jersey. Him: OH, NO! Me: So we’re going to have beef, I see. What’s your story? Him: Most of my family lives in Boston. Me: I grew up in New York. Him: Well, you could have been a Mets fan. Me: EW! No, I could NOT!!!!!

Against a prairie landscape with horses dancing through the sky, the text reads "another mysterious, in-between month of live write-ins, workshops and prompts"

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.
