Thanks so much to Corvus Books for this proof of #ThePsychiatrist by @emmacurtisauthor.bsky.social. It looks like such a pageturner. Out in October.
#OurBeautifulMess is Adele Parks’ 25th novel in 25 years and shockingly the first one I’ve read. I took it on holiday with me and it couldn’t have made for more perfect sunlounger reading, with shock after shock after shock.
There’s a lot of hype around #Room706 by @ellielevenson.bsky.social, despite it not coming out until early next year, and I was desperate to get my hands on it. It tells the story of Kate and James, who are trapped in a hotel room when the building is taken under siege by a terrorist group.
#BitterSweet by Hattie Williams has a coming-of-age vibe, and I’m a sucker for that. It’s about a young female publicity assistant at a publishing house and her relationship with a much older, married male novelist.
I was drawn to #Slags because I thought it would be funny (it is) and nostalgic for a person who was a teenage girl in the 90s (it is) and because it’s called Slags, which is a pretty ballsy title. What I wasn’t expecting was for it to rip me apart emotionally.
Just booked a blood test and a smear test back to back to avoid two trips to the GP and it feels like a win, albeit a pretty rubbish one.
Me: What did you and F play at school? 9yo: Well, I spent most of break trying to get my foot out of the railings. Me: And did F help with that? 9yo: Yes. And I summoned quite a crowd.
So thrilled to receive proofs of #TheTwoRoberts and #HearttheLover from @annaframe.bsky.social and @canongate.co.uk. They’re out in September and October. Thank you!

In #BringtheHouseDown by Charlotte Runcie, theatre critic Alex gives comedian Hayley’s Edinburgh festival show a one-star review and then sleeps with her, resulting in her changing her entire act in an attempt to bring him down.
#BookBoyfriend is such an enjoyable and funny novel, featuring two very different twins and potential love interests ranging from a moody librarian to a lovely housemate to a semi-famous actor. I loved trying to work out which direction it would go. @simonschusteruk.bsky.social
#Air by John Boyne is the final instalment of the Elements quartet. I have loved these interlinked novellas, each of which picks up on the story of a minor character from the previous one.
#CatFight by @kitconwayauthor.bsky.social is such an original take on the psychological thriller. Set in an exclusive housing development in Sevenoaks, Kent, it centres around three couples and kicks off with an alleged sighting of a wild cat on the bonnet of a car.
