Anything I release, be it a game demo, music recorded/made in a chiptune tracker... even if no one likes something, nothing makes me feel prouder about myself to say that *I* did everything. All of it. You learn from frustrations, love for the making, and experimenting. Just go make things

If gen-AI could create something identical to my work without me having to raise a finger, I would still want to make it myself, instead. Every choice I make when making art is informed by every past experience I've had, and I think that is intrinsically valuable.

Talked a bit about this here already, but part of my artistic process recently has been writing sections where I'm explicitly trusting myself to improvise. My brain constantly wants to optimise/quantise out the human elements of my own performances, so I've been working hard to fight against that!

me, yesterday: wow okay that take came out PERFECT! it's too bad I'll never make anything as good as that ever again 😔 me, today: wow okay that take came out PERFECT! it's too bad I'll never make anything as good as that ever again 😔 me, tomorrow: wow okay that take came out-

I don't know why it's taken so long for this thought about Big Hero 6 to crystallise, but I personally think it was deeply disrespectful for Hiro's fun gearing up montage scored by a Fall Out Boy song with the line "We could be immortals" to take place almost immediately after his brother's death

AI proponents be like "wouldn't it be easier if if you introduced intensely shitty plagiarised junk into your workflow? all it takes is the atrophy of every last one of your hard-earned skills and the destruction of your planet!"

I feel like so much circular discourse around games is based on games that haven't come out yet, or clearly aren't even close to coming out. There are obviously real issues surrounding this stuff, but I'd like to encourage folks to take a break from it and just go play something fun!

Currently playing through Hades II again, and I'm at the part where Narcissus is so enamoured with his own reflection above all else that his reflecting pool turns murky. Anyway, time to check the news-

Apologies to my neurotypical followers over the age of 13 for my posting about The Amazing Digital Circus. To explain it in terms you can hopefully understand, this is like if your team simultaneously won the Super Bowl, World Series and The International on the same day It Finally Happened
