So, I made it through the first birthday in 35 years without Hubster. One of our oldest friends has a bday a few days before mine, so she and I celebrated together. And the calls and messages still haven’t stopped. It’s not the same. It sucks. But it was better than I expected. #grieflife

There are so many memories tied up in this day, predominantly around watching it unfold and waiting to hear that my bf and her husband had gotten out safely, and fearing the worst. But..this is a lighter memory. Hubster and I had bought new living room furniture which would be delivered on 9/12.

I went to Dollywood once when Hubster played there. It was nice. I honestly couldn’t tolerate her voice. But, if you asked me to list the ten people I most admire, she would always be #1. So much deep respect for that woman. She was simply the greatest.

I have been having a hard time remembering much of anything, even the last few weeks, about Hubster since he died. Today, an old, old friend and his wife stopped by and brought lunch. He spent 5 hours telling stories, some I didn't know (band road trips), but many more I instantly remembered. There

Calling the gas company.. AI Asst: blah blah blah.. Me: Speak to a representative Repeat 4-5x I lost count Sixth time AI Asst: blah blah blah Me: Speak to a representative, BITCH! AI Asst: Let me connect you Problem solved quickly by a lovely human being. Profanity works. 😆 #grieflife

I thought I might watch the #Sky game tonight. Then my neighbor invited me out for an after-dinner walk. Then we sat in the park and talked for an hour. Then we went to her house and had chocolate cake till dark and she drove me home. Now I’m thinking I might actually sleep tonight. #grieflife

There's nothing more in the world I'd rather have right now than a big, cold, crispy salad, but..since I'm the doer of all things around this place right now, I just can't take the chance. 😢

A new morning..7 hours sleep. No 2:30am panic attacks or doomscrolling. Cool enough for open windows. Hubster sleeping peacefully. Some blessed time for myself. Loving the 2 handmade (not by me!) mugs holding my tea and water. A better..no..a good morning. ☀️

I dunno..there's so much going on with life, and the #wnba just seems flat out toxic lately. It's damn depressing. I might just drop it. I'll have the NCAA, and Unrivaled and AU and Upshot, and I'll have more knitting time till those start. Just thinking about it..

So..this is not a fun morning. It even smells smoky inside the house. We're both coughing up a lung. And I have to start giving Hubster chemo pills today. So probably not a fun day..or evening, either. Glad I'm not a drinking woman because I would be starting right about an hour ago.

YES!!! I was reading at a 12th grade level when I started 1st grade. Why? Because my mother read to me every day. She helped me sound out words so I'd recognize them if I saw them again. Every night, my dad and I read the newspaper together and did the crosswords. I learned more new words.
