Been replaying Halo through an Xbox emulator with Shader Glass to mimic the experience of playing it on an old CRT with a semi poor signal and my god, nothing beats this, Halo has unbelievably sauce still in 2026. I am so primed for maximum hater energy when I stream the remake soon!
If we want to truly accept games as art, we also have to accept that better graphics and more convenient gameplay doesn’t make a game inherently better. Sometimes “ugly” visuals or frustrating gameplay is a core aspect of what makes it.
Still, to this day, people do not *actually* see games as art. There is no appreciation for the unreal, the theatrical, the smoke and mirrors. To most people who play games but are not *into* games, they are a linear art form. New is better because it's *more*.

Over the last week my total subscribers gained is sitting at -28, which means I’ve lost more than I’ve gained in that period, which must be because of my Black Flag streams… people are really mad I don’t unconditionally love it I guess 😭
The things that Black Flag Resynced does better than the original were inevitable, but the things they removed are so bizarre. - No hidden blade or fist combat, nor the ability to pick up weapons or rifles to use. - Can't gently push through crowds when walking making blending a disaster.

I’ve almost finished editing a new YouTube video if you can believe it!
I have been sent a review code for Black Flag… this is the third code for a Ubisoft game I’ve received in my life, the first two were Far Cry Primal and The Ezio Collection. I cannot tell if they’re just obscenely confident or if they forgot who I am, because this seems like a pretty whacky move!
I’ve always been of the opinion that despite the TASM films being average to bad Spider-Man films, they’re actually pretty remarkable romance films that just happen to also be about Spider-Man and I think that’s their unique strength in the genre.
That’s crazy because I picked Colin’s Republic of Pirates as part of my reading material for my Black Flag video in 2024 entirely without knowing any connection. Kinda a happy coincidence. Also became a book I recommend to anyone who will listen.

There’s no reason to even own specifically an Xbox in 2026 anyway, unless you deeply crave GoW E-Day or Clockwork Revolution and hey, they’re also on PC! I honestly believe the 9th generation of consoles could be the last I buy, that’s kinda sad, but this isn’t sustainable or reasonable.

This means that the Xbox Series X without a disc drive will start at $749, and the Series X with a disc drive will start at $799.
