Some random pics and videos from our gig at Prairie Dog yesterday. It was great playing twice, but exhausting! And watching the other bands was so fun!!!
A friend asked me to play this it from the movie Brassed Off. I said, “sure! It ain’t so hard!” Thought I’d share. Some liberties with tempo And rhythm were taken. Let’s call them artistic choices. #yyc #cookiemute #trumpet #bandgeek #gaybear
Looks like another huge water main break here in #calgary that is extremely close to where the last one was. I went to brush my teeth and had almost no water pressure. I thought, “the last time this happened was that huge water main break,” and sure enough…. #yyc www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/s/...

Look how happy this guy looks! That’s because, after many years of work writing a thesis and getting a Master’s Degree, he can now also say he is a published researcher. A short summary of my thesis work and findings can now be found in a peer-reviewed academic journal. #gaybear
Here is another blast from the past as I continue to accidentally new find ways to relive my childhood. I was at New Horizons mall the other day and found a little German shop selling Moravian stars. I had to get one! It was expensive, and bigger than expected, but I love it!
I checked out Calgary’s largest garage sale at the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Centre. So many people! Nothing too exciting (will I ever find a Walkman?) but I did haggle my way into two Corningware mugs. These are straight from my 1980s childhood! Seriously, did anybody NOT have these mugs?
A lovely day of excess consumerism. The day was spent all over the city grabbing some last minute Items for my upcoming trip to Japan.
I completely agree with the sentiments of this post but will add that AHS is full of brilliant folks, and despite the government constantly hamstringing us, we always find a way to take care of patients. I'm not sure we've crossed the line of complete failure, but we're marching right toward it.
"It is pure chaos." "Alberta's health-care system is now so dysfunctional and chaotic that it will be unable to handle the inevitable surge of sick patients from the annual flu, respiratory infection and COVID season over the next few months." #Alberta #Canada #Healthcare
Tried out a new trumpet today. I wish buying one was in the budget. Oh well…I took the opportunity to make a gratuitously artsy photo.
I went to see Nuremberg today, which stars Russell Crowe and Rami Malek. What an amazing and powerful movie! It holds so much relevance in today’s political landscape. It’s part of the Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF). Check it out if you get a chance! #yyc #calgary #CIFF #Nuremberg
Concert band giveth me confidence, and jazz band taketh it away. Having practice one block away from home is the best thing that had ever happened to me! I’m going to be devastated when I have to start driving down south again.
I know that it’s super trendy to hate the Calgary Stampede these days, but I, for one, have been having a blast there this year. I’ve lived in YYC for all of my 46.95 years and not a lot feels more sentimental around here. However, I absolutely refuse to do the cowboy cosplay. #calgarystampede
I am fatigued from the experience of streaming services and have become weirdly obsessed with old school cable television again. Days of Our Lives, here I come!
It has been a heck of a long time since my last skate! Felt good to get out there though. Like riding a bike! Plus, it’s 90s night who could resist? #YYC #houseofskate
How have you been Bluesky? I feel like I’ve been neglecting you!
