Photographer and writer living by the sea. Always looking for places to photograph and books to read. Won't say no to a hike either. www.leaelm.com

Apologies to anyone who already liked the photo I just posted, Bluesky is ignoring the formatting I've done and how a photo is viewed matters.

The first week back after a holiday is always a weird mix of residual calmness, adjusting to time differences, unpacking, awkwardly getting back into work and being very tired. I've had a lie in today so I'm hoping that will have helped to restore me a bit.

I did end up going to the bookshop and in my defense, having had a look at the writing style and subject on a few pages, it looks absolutely perfect for where I'm going. Yes, I also got cake (and ice tea, not pictured).

A left hand holding up a copy of a book, 'The Outermost House' by Henry Beston that has a cream coloured cover wih a watercolour-type illustrationof a small cabin sitting amongst beachy sand dunes. Behind is a stack of books and a plate of cake and further back in the room is a pot plant, a dark green curtain, a wall and a floor-to-ceiling window.

I might not be the biggest fan of another heatwave week but my orchids are thriving. Both lost all their flowers last year but I kept them and kept watering them.

One purple-pink flower is halfway unfolded, other buds are in various stages of growth with some being new and small, others bigger and more pink, almost ready to bloom.

In Denmark when I was growing up, the air would be cleared after a thunderstorm but here in England the humidity just rages on. The weather is acting disturbingly weird too, even for England. The heatwave they predicted haven't turned up yet but the mystery, unexpected thunderstorm this morning did.
