Massive joy to have two poems, 'Missing my Father with Caravaggio in Belfast' and 'My Sister Glued Jesus' in this forthcoming issue of @stingingfly.bsky.social 🩶 Huge grá to Annemarie Ní Chuirreáin for seeing my work. Stunning cover by photographer Ronan McCall and designer Eimear Gavin.
"...He was post-surgery, morphined up, my sister and I on night shift swabbing his nightmares." This poem confronts its unsettling subject matter on its own, harrowing ground. It chases up the spine & lodges in the heart & mind the way the last five lines of Heaney's "Mid-Term Break" do. Brilliant.
