I've had a lot of jobs, from delivering newspapers to loading planes, but writing will always be my true love. AI-free speculative fiction author. He/him. LGBTQIA ally. You can read more of my work here: lelandlydecker.com patreon.com/Leland_Lydecker
Note to self: I need to talk about my stories more.
It's strange—but a fact—that people will give you more encouraging attention when you talk about a WIP than when it's out and they can buy/read it or support you by talking about it. This happens for most of my books. This'll likely discourage newbies, so I want to say: it's not you! It's normal.

"Bluesky isn't a *liberal* bubble - it's a *decency* bubble." I completely agree. It's sad that we live in a timeline where not being overtly friendly to bullies, bigots, outrage farmers, and propagandists is somehow a bad thing.
He cites users' ability to mute & block folks as a positive, which is good. It's also why right wing chuds thankfully can't get a foothold here - b/c they violate community norms & get nuclear blocked out of normal people's timelines. Bluesky isn't a *liberal* bubble - it's a *decency* bubble.

Indah said, “How would you dispose of a body so it wouldn’t be found?” I’m not the public library feed, Senior Officer, go do your own research. I said, “If I told you, then you might find all the bodies I’ve already disposed of.”
Holy shit, this is absolutely ghoulish. At a time when people are often so sick that just taking care of basics and trying not to die is the most they can manage... they're supposed to either work or PROVE they can't? What the actual fuck.
Appalling cruelty — and all to fund more tax cuts for the rich.
Three years ago, our reporter received an envelope with no return address. Inside was a flash drive containing tens of thousands of files: years of secretly recorded conversations, private militia chat logs and videos sent by a man named John Williams. (Published Jan. 2025)
A Mole Infiltrated the Highest Ranks of American Militias. This Is What He Found.
Outraged by the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, a wilderness survival trainer spent years undercover climbing the ranks of right-wing militias. He didn’t tell police or the FBI. He didn’t tell family or friends....

Absolutely nothing good will come of this.
New from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...
“I wasn’t going to let him hurt me.” I said, “If I thought he was going to hurt you, I’d be disposing of his body. I don’t fuck around, either.”
The greatest thing about AI is all the pushback it's starting to get. I'm glad people are waking up to the fact that a world with disinformation-generating plagiarism machines is actually a terrible place.
You know AI is great because every app has to trick you into using it

At our municipal grocery stores, New Yorkers will get a 30% discount on eggs, milk, chicken, produce and other everyday essentials. In the wealthiest city in the richest country in the world, no one should have to wonder how they’ll afford the food they need to feed themselves or their families.
Holy yikes. "National security" = "surveilling US citizens." These need to be fought like hell and shut down if at all possible.
If you live near a military base, there’s a chance you’ll soon find that a privately owned data center has moved into your area.
I'd say it's a warning and a wakeup call for everyone. If you haven't moved your important business off Meta platforms, now's the time! Zuck spent a decade helping bring fascists to power in the US and elsewhere. Now his platforms are at the forefront of enacting their agenda. Fuck Meta indeed.
This is a warning and wakeup call for the UK and Europe. qnews.com.au/meta-shuts-d...
This is insanely sad. How many needlessly died because they couldn't afford to catch it sooner? Universal Healthcare is the only humane solution.
Hey so turns out discovering why we used to have all those food safety regulations in the first place is not all that much fun
Can you believe they'll let just anyone rent one of these things?!
If someone ran on this platform, plus a few things like universal basic income, universal healthcare, and taxing the rich, I'd vote for them in a heartbeat. The world does not actually belong to the wealthy, and they need to be made aware of that.
I truly believe golf should be outlawed and every single golf course seized and converted into low income housing or homeless shelters.
I look forward to reporting coming out soon on JKT’s funders. I was alerted to it by an anonymous online account on Instagram, but 2 independent sources told me they verified the info via the APOC reports, & we’ll have articles on it soon by journalists. Tl;dr is he’s majorly funded by Anthropic.
AI "writers": "I was using AI to plagiarize other people's work, but they change ChatGPT so I can't anymore! Waaaaah it's not fair!" Me: 🤣🤣🤣

Great question that others may like to know the answer to— I accept MSs of all genres but the genres I work with most are romance, historical/alt-historical, fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary. Romance is the most common style of book among the other genres as well.
I'm not in the market for an editor yet, but will need one at some point down the road. What genres do you generally work with?
*gently grabs your face* listen to me LISTEN TO ME y'all need to start buying the rights to Horror books written by women instead of trolling Reddit for scraps of creepypasta. There are SO MANY BOOKS that would make great movies just sitting there, complete with PLOTS and THEMES and CHARACTER ARCS.
