I got my camera kit 15 years ago and it has essentially become an extension of my arm and eyes. I love it. But. I've found recently that it's showing it's age and really struggling with speed and reach and no tweaking will ever fix that. It's finally time to upgrade!

Neurodivergent He/Him. Punk, Ska, Pokemon, MCU, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dinosaurs, Birds, Lego. Info dumping and complaining.
Every year, without fail. Mum falls asleep during the reveal in the Knives Out movies.
I hate LinkedIn. Since I started my new job in September I've had more traffic on my page than the whole rest of my LinkedIn time. But like. Corporate, superficial-ness is so toxic and people basically begging for business with DMs is so transparent I'm 90% certain I should delete the whole thing!
Human I'm dating just said she was also obsessed with Siren Song Of The Counter Cultute! 😍
I took 1300 photos of whales and Orca on my SLR. In the Azores I was just happy to get a shot but in Norway we had so much more time with the animals and it was just us. Meant I got to go all arty with my photos.
I'm having eggs and bacon on a yacht anchored in an arctic fjord in Norway. I wish this could stay my new normal.
Come all the way to the Arctic and I'm still too hot. Also spent the last hour of the plane journey watching the Aurora through the window.
I used to be a data analyst for Supply Chain before I became a SC Manager. In my last job I worked with a data god and compared to him, my data stuff looked shit. Now I'm at a new company trying to explain data theory to my staff and actually I am amazing at this shit, I just got lazy.
Packing for the Arctic is hard because so many layers are required. Usually I just need a backpack and my camera. Currently I'm wrestling with a fat cabin bag that needs to fit my tripod but weigh less than 8kg! Love my new jacket though!
What are you supposed to say when someone asks your hobbies. Like, I've got hobbies coming out of my ears. I have shelf upon shelf of abandoned hobbies too. What's an acceptable reply?
I have quite enjoyed Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth, especially it's clear influence on Arthur Conan Doyle's the Lost World. But also - science from 160 years ago is SO stupid.
Happy 2nd anniversary of being a home owner. God - it's gone by SO fast.
It's my LAST day of unemployment. Starting a new place tomorrow after almost 2 months off (one that aligns with my values too!). I actually can't wait, but also I'm nervous. Capitalism is evil but also you don't realise how much of your job is your personality till you don't have it anymore.
My hair colour is almost back to normal now after almost a year and fuck me, have I gone grey.
Keep getting some raincoat ad pop up on YouTube, but it's like: "This raincoat isn't a gay raincoat for little girls, this is a tactical manly raincoat for shaving in, drinking beer and hunting." Like, is wanting to stay dry really that threatening to people's genders?
Got a final, third interview, face to face on Monday! Woooo. Which hopefully works out because today is my first payday since I was 16 where I haven't earned any money! 😬
T minus 40 mins till my second interview and I just talked to my recruiter. The person I'm going to be talking to got the job 2 months ago via my recruiter. So I guess it's going to be more of a chat than an interview? That's good because I have no idea what questions to ask this time!
I don't want to jynx it... but I have a really good feeling about my interview last Thursday. The CEO emailed me early this morning to arrange a call with one of their staff!
God. I hope I get on with the CEO of this company. Their work in sustainability is so inspiring!
I read a post that said if you're just blindly applying to jobs on job boards and not putting yourself out there, you aren't job hunting you're job hoping. It was the kick up the ass I needed.
I finally caved and let AI help me write a cover letter for some recruitment places and goddamn it, within hours I got a call.
Imagine being so unadventurous that you decide music and sex might be worth trying. After marriage! And imagine being so fragile in your sexuality that the Countdown theme is an instant turn off, instead of a joke to enjoy with your partner before continuing the sex!
I suggested music during sex. Husband agreed. I put my old iPod on shuffle and we got some good music. We were just about to start the main event when the Countdown theme came up. It really soured the atmosphere. No more nookie music for us.
Nothing but depression last week. This week it's not even midday on a Monday and I've been proposed three job interviews! Everything's coming up Milhouse!
New improved and achievement oriented CV must be pretty good because ever since I changed it I've had at least one recruiter call me per day. I just wish most London based Supply Chain roles were more Central and not in fucking Uxbridge!
I'm sad that In Defence Of Ska podcast has ended, but I'm happy that I made enough impact to the ska punk community to have been mentioned by name on it at least once (Thanks Popes of Chillitown). You can put that on my gravestone.
It's starting to get really frustrating that all the bloody Supply Chain jobs I'm qualified for are all in West London. Hybrid or not, I've done the 2 hour commutes before and they're soul destroying.
