A mixed week Welsh birding and mothing as the weather was not ideal for either most of the time, so nothing unexpected recorded. About to do a quick stop at Goldcliff, Newport to scope the estuary, then traveling back to SW London.

Wishing Sir David Attenborough a very Happy 100th Birthday! Here's a photo I took of him during a short, private session back in 2007, when Sir David announced the introduction of Butterfly Conservation's National Moth Recording Scheme at the Zoological Society of London. >>> #TeamMoth

I've just got back from leading a group of cubs and beavers on a bird walk. One young lad wanted to use my binoculars, he then said he wanted to smash them on the rocks! I politely declined. Still a good walk though with Hobby the best of the evening.

I've put out a couple of lures', namely VES & OAK (for S. conopiformis - not British but you never know in London!) in Putney Heath, SW London. It's getting close to the flight period for the former (S. vespiformis). Nothing to VES but 4 Machalite beetle (Malachius bipustulatus) to OAK! #TeamMoth

Chilling out on a narrowboat on the Shropshire Union adjacent to Fenn’s, Whixall & Bettisfield Mosses on the Shropshire/Powys border. So far Emperor Moth to the EMP lure, and numerous male Brimstone butterflies jousting over very few females. I've never seen so #BoatLife
