Comin' for your girl. leupagus at pretty much all social media platforms, AO3, and gmail

I realized the other day that I feel about people who use ChatGPT etc the same way I feel about people who own guns. I instantly respect them less (which is not to say I lose all respect, but...it goes down for sure) and I also trust them MUCH less. For different reasons, to be sure, but still.

I'd respect AI fans a lot more if they'd stop a) ascribing human emotions to it and then b) describing in detail how they made it "sad" or "chastised" or "humbled."

Hey has anyone made a good oral history of the founding of AO3? I was just thinking about the very patchy memories I have of how it got started (I was friends of friends of friends of people who started it, EXTREMELY ignorant) and I wondered if someone's already done the work of...well archiving lol

See, this is a "get to know me" meme I can get behind! Loot that drops after defeating me: *crystal nail file *travel-sized sunscreen stick *double-ended knitting needle bent in a U to use as a hairpin *tube of anti-chafing gel *pair of wool socks *flask-shaped water bottle

Loot that drops after defeating me: - hot sauce - assorted pieces of dusty sea glass - tacky fridge magnets - pork rinds - an interminably long book on historical war crimes - assorted hard candy given out free at restaurants - international hand sanitizer bottles (assorted)

Hey Americans! Call your representative and your senators in the next few days—even if they're Republicans!—to urge them to support this bill. If it's got a chance in hell of passing in the House, it may just be able to get passed in the Senate. And if nothing else, we need momentum for 2027!

Today members of Congress introduced a bipartisan discharge petition to pass the Dream and Promise Act in the House. It has a real chance of passing, although it is unlikely to clear the Senate filibuster.

Just had a conversation with my nephew where he ranted about how his classmates last year kept saying "6 7" all the time and he STILL doesn't know what it means, and I said "kids these days" and he responded "YES EXACTLY!" My 11-year-old nephew, the 47-year-old grouch

Guys not only did I get an A in my summer Bio II (which holy shit was so hard) but the professor said I was a pleasure to have in class Remember kids you are never too old to be a brown-noser, reach 4 the stars

OK seriously I know that there will always be transgressive shitheads who use bigoted words in order to get reactions, but did I just live in a nice kind bubble where people didn't use the r-word as a way to say "silly"? Because I've noticed an uptick and I am not a fan!

Guys I impulse-bought some rhubarb again and due to reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, I need to use them TONIGHT. Is there something extremely low-effort I can do with them? I have sugar, honey, maple syrup, puff pastry sheets and phyllo shells, GO

I just got to tell my aunt about both political Graham wins this week (she is one of those rare creatures who does not have any social media and also never watches the news) and all I'm saying is sometimes you get to tell people good news

Learning at the age of 46 that if you really love carmelized onions but hate the fucking 7 hour process of making them, you can just cut the fuckers in half, peel them, coat them with salt and oil and roast them at 425 for about 40 minutes and it's basically the same thing

Signed up for a fix exchange (which I haven't done in years because I hate the pressure of it) and managed to get it submitted on time but I *did* forget to eat dinner...or lunch...or really breakfast so I just ate a bowl of oatmeal & a PBJ while waiting for my squash & chicken to finish cooking lol
