Dolly Parton was one of the greatest human beings to have lived. A beautiful soul. So kind, so talented. Just devastating. What a legacy she leaves. RIP Dolly.
No Swarla nonsense, and no prisons or hospitals. How Corrie should be.
Lots to enjoy in tonight’s #Corrie: Glenda getting a bit of a storyline at last and looking fabulous; Brian and Maggie chatting about Spangles; the return of EVIL TODD™️; Nicky being forced to watch darts in The Rovers. Lots of lovely character stuff. And no prison scenes.
Someone on YouTube has uploaded the whole of Pat Phoenix's sitcom Constant Hot Water!!! To my knowledge, never been seen since 1986!
*That* ghastly actress is now in #Corrie. To think 20 years ago I liked her, and thought she was funny. Awful!!!
She claims to be dieting, but every time we have Do A Deer A Female Deer there's a terrible whiff of pear drops.
Paid a visit to St Clements Church in Ordsall early yesterday morning. If you know your Corrie history, you’ll know the significance of the location. It’s where Archie Street stood until the very early 70s, the design inspiration for the Coronation Street houses in 1960.
Had to go and see this mosaic of Corrie icons on the walls of Affleck’s in Manchester. Fabulous!
They tried to get me in a tracksuit once. They don't flatter.
Ahhhh, I've just won a postcard Betty Boothroyd sent to Patricia Routledge congratulating her on her CBE! Cheapest item going as well 🤩
Seriously thinking about bidding on some letters Betty Boothroyd wrote to Patricia Routledge on Wednesday. To own those would be camp on another level.
#OnThisDay 26 July 1979 DEATH ON THE STREET ITV broadcasts what's billed as "the first ever documentary about #CoronationStreet" in which Stephen Hancock examines viewers' reactions to the death of soap characters. It features #LynneCarol, #NoelDyson, Tony McHale and Bill Podmore.
Don't forget I was in Beirut with Mandy Rice-Davies; I understand entertainment on a shoestring.
If I was Prime Minister - and thank goodness I'm not, because I've been the length and breadth of Downing Street and never spotted a decent wool shop.
Andy Burnham could be the greatest PM in history for me if he introduced a ban on people eating in cinemas. Alas...
Antony Cotton’s ‘acting’ is still atrocious. Been in it for 22 years and done nothing noteworthy. Ditto Kirk and Izzy, and many others. Useless characters. #corrie
I'm really cross about this. I'm actually hurting under my bra I'm so cross.
Was very touched to receive these lovely gifts from @drkevingeddes.bsky.social today - Mae West’s writing paper and a calling card envelope 😍 Actual items used by Mae West! I will treasure them, and remember his dear friend David. Really put a smile on my face!
Said it elsewhere before, but the first series of The Royle Family is pitch perfect. The depictions of normal life, chatter about people in the local area, cultural references, it's just a masterpiece. Series 1 and 2 are the best. Series 3 isn't as strong, dialogue repetition creeps in.
#R4Today spent this morning warmly eulogising Ann Widdecombe. Almost none of what they said was wrong. Almost none of it was complete. Here's what they left out. 🧵
Good evening. My name's Kitty. I could've married, I've given gallons of blood and I can't stomach whelks, so that's me for you.
Yeah, I can't believe I've neglected Beryl Reid and have never taken any notice of her for all these years. I'm ashamed... she was fabulous!
Noele Gordon doing an interview about anti-smoking while sat in a chair getting her make-up done is peak camp.
