Hi! I'm Leah. I study sanctions, war and dictators professionally and Fungi personally. I'm a terrible millennial, prefer typewriters to computers, and am an insufferable optimist. I'm glad you're here.

An older sort of conservative (loved McCain, hates Trump) relative just asked me if I know anything about the "handsome Democrat running in Michigan" because she's heard "good things about him" and might "toss him some money." Y'all, I'm floored in a good way.

My original Friday night plans have been cancelled (postponed to Saturday night plans, actually) so my husband suggested he make a big pasta dinner, and he's picking up my favorite ice cream on his way home. I am in no way upset about any of this.

"I mean... you're adopted of course, but you look a whole lot like your uncle! That's so neat!"- is a thing that was said to me today after an acquaintance met some of my extended family by chance. I'm not adopted. My birth mother and her family are black. Biracial people do exist.

I finally watched the Super Mario Galaxy movie, and I don't know if it's a popular opinion on this website to find it delightful, but I did. I regularly speed run Starfox when I'm stressed, and I play competitive Smash Brothers so it was basically designed for me, I think.

I am so proud of our community feeding initiative. This is just a small part of our stockpile to create food packages and to put in our blessing box. It is of course never enough, and there is so much need, but I'm so grateful for the opportunity to at least try to help.

The desk in my church loaded up with tons of non perishable food for our community feeding program.
