@crab-exeter.bsky.social are a fantastic group of researchers, and a real beacon of excellence for Exeter. What a huge and deeply sad act of self sabotage this would be. Please consider signing their open letter👇🏻

500 academics are threatened with compulsory redundancy at the University of Exeter, most in Humanities, and also in the Sciences arbitrarily targeting diverse research groups. The university is in a strong financial position. Support us, sign this petition c.org/yKcx6Zr29H

Just heard about the 200 redundancies announced by my previous employer, the University of Exeter. 170 of those are in Humanities and Social Sciences. This is what happens in a country with the collapsing HE funding system with VCs-cum-CEOs on £300k salaries+bonuses and corporate governing bodies.
The University of Exeter is not in budget deficit. Yet are proposing to cut 150 academic jobs. This include my job. Please sign and share the petition, write our Vice Chancellor, to your MP, and get the word out about the act of self harm this university is about to commit. c.org/yKcx6Zr29H

Super happy to share some work from my masters project with @cogwild.bsky.social 🪺 Using six years of data from blue tits, we show that wild birds make decisions about their nest design based on their reproductive success in the previous year. 📄 doi.org/10.1093/behe...

Late-reporting, but last year some of our CRABbers headed up to Edinburgh to present their posters at the @asab.org Winter meeting. Well done all! @libbychaps.bsky.social @charli-ocean.bsky.social and @ Manuela Carona R
Festive Season in CRAB, which we celebrate with a quiz and by rediscovering the password to the CRAB Bluesky account.
@ingeridh.bsky.social gave a great talk about her work investigating squirrel caching behaviour using accelerometers in a very interesting session led by Hemal Naik & Ebi Antony George on using machine learning in animal behaviour research🧑💻🐿️
